Came up with my alias cus I was in high school and figured that I wanted something that sounded really cool and metal (basically just really edgy), and had recently learned two words: Rended, and Asunder. Unfortunately, english was never really my best subject, and I forgot that Rended, and Rendered, were two different things. So going for Rended Asunder, or "ripped apart", turned into RenderedAsunder. Kind of just stuck with it cus it's what everyone knows me as.

My alias is actually my real life name, more or less.

My alias sorta happened by mistake. I was playing Skyrim on xbox a few years back and I went to go name my character Misty, which was the name that I had usually gone with during that time. I blame the screwy console typing system but Misty came out as Miziy and it sorta just stuck. I've since changed it to Mizie and I go by Miz as well ^^

  • DeeDee Member, Alpha One, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
I've been called Dee for about 12 years now. It originated from someone not being able to pronounce my real name.
Unfortunately, Dee is always taken in every game, 'cause it's so generic, so I have to race for it or pay for it.

I always play tank type characters as my main and wanted to come up with something original.
I was also a math nerd at the time I came up with the name, and a "vertex" is the end-point of two lines that intersect. Kinda like a tank intercepting baddies going after the healer.

I tweaked it a bit into Virtek.
    =)
  • I was in a chat, about 20 years ago.. and there was people there with nicknames like McSnow, McDoc, McFog, a bunch of mc's, so i became McStorm.. been using it as a gamertag ever since.

In some folklore's there is this ferryman (like Charon) who transports dead people or their souls to the underworld by the river or across lake of the dead.

Moreover, I like PvP content (especially open world) and my name refers to this guy who will transport other players poor souls to the underworld.
Do you need a ride to the Underworld?

I do love the myths of Charon and Thanatos

Like a few other people, it's my name. Well, minus the extra 'a'. Best part is, no one would ever think it's really my name.

I have a few aliases, but this one is the most interesting to me. For one I am not sure where it came from. I always thought my friends suggested it to me, but apparently none of them remember doing it. The name itself can be pronounced a number of ways. But the way I always use it is as “excess”. In truth the alias itself is excessive as you can further shorten it down to Xs.

Isn’t it kinda risky to use your real name? Are there a lot of people with your name?
  • ViymirViymir Member, Braver of Worlds, Kickstarter, Alpha One, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
My alias is Vi it has been for just short of 20 years online. It is a shortened version of the name I used in Unreal Tournament the first online game I played with an organised clan as opposed to just playing on the pubs. I will not go into what that name was, just to leave an air of mystery

Vi was my name in quakenet IRC. It is still my name in Discord. Unfortunately the majority of games and forums restrict names to a minimum of 3 characters so I cant use Vi in here or in Ashes of Creation game.

The name I am currently using in this forum, Neomir, was created as a family name for Vi it means new world (Mir is Russian for world), I am not Russian, but I saw the Mir space station one night fly across the sky and it inspired me. The name has since evolved from a family name for Vi to a alternative character name.

I have tried using various other names in game over the years all had Vi at the start of the name. I was never happy with any of them. In Archeage I was able to play just as Vi and decided when I quit I would need to find a name I was happy with and stick with that. That led me after quite some time searching to Viymir, a mixture of Vi and Ymir, which originates from Norse mythology. Ymir is a giant that gave birth to the Jotnar (other giants and trolls) who was eventually killed by the god Odin and his brothers Vili and Ve.

Out of Ymir's flesh was fashioned the earth,
    And the ocean out of his blood;
Of his bones the hills, of his hair the trees,
Of his skull the heavens high.

Mithgarth the gods from his eyebrows made,
    And set for the sons of men;
And out of his brain the baleful clouds
They made to move on high.

My RL name is Danny. I liked the cartoon show Danny Phantom. So my alias was Phantom, and it slowly morphed to Dphantomtv.

    Actually a good Question....

So my very first online Name was ByteMike (in MMOs), and Raicool (R4!Co0L in Shooters).
However, at some point, i was getting tired of being called "Mike", since my real name is Raphaél.
I could never really identify myself with that name.

The name Rai-Cool was simply a few letters taken out of my Shortname "Ra(ph)i" with a "cool" at the end, but I used to use this name when I was way younger - so somewhen it lost its appeal to me.

After quite some time and continuously playing Tanks as a Main-Class in MMO´s (Back then they were usually equipped with Shield/Sword)
I decided to go for the Name SwordSlave on my Main-Characters.

However moving forward in Time and the Genre, more MMO´s offered "Tanks" that didn't solely rely on a Sword/Shield combo, so I decided to leave the Name SwordSlave behind.

Quite some time has passed since using ByteMike and RaiCool...
So I was looking for something similar to RaiCool but not sounding as childish.
Also, I wanted to have a name, that kind of sounds more original.

Around the Time of the release of the Gladiator Class in Cabal,
I was rushing for a new Name, and the only Name I had in my mind was Reaccon (Pronounced like Recon).
From that moment forward I was using that Name.
And until this day, I like it more than any of my previous ones

I enjoy embracing chaos and like to consider myself the center of most things. Of course, on a more serious note, mine was inspired by Lovecraft. There was a time in my life where what was going on around me needed to be ignored and forgotten as much as possible, and during that time his stories, settings, characters, and other worldly horrors resonated with me.

On a side note my dog is named Dagon (after HP's Dagon) and my car has a vanity plate that also bears one of the names of his darker entities. I have also noticed the name is rarely taken in the websites I travel.

I watched Pirates of the Caribbean and In that one scene where Will gets Jack out of prison he says leverage when talking about how to get the door off. It was my first time hearing the word and I ended up using it when I got an xbox 360. Still here but with 3's since leverage is taken more often than l3v3rag3 is
