They need to implement fish wrangling in my honest opinion!
You vs the endless ocean - Shark vs Humanoid
To me, there should always be some sort of active component to everything we do in game - I mean, why even play the game if you aren't required to push buttons in order to do a "thing"?
It isn't hard to conceive of a fishing system that doesn't allow for AFK fishing.
WoW required being active; watching your line, reeling in at the right time, etc. You also had to hunt for spots with the right kind of fish and once you caught enough fish you would have to wait for them to respawn (which meant looking for another spot). LotRO was similar. No AFK fishing. That’s what I expect and hope to see.
I think it would also be nice to have 2 types of fishing rods, one with Stardew-style mini-game and another with a more brain-dead wait and click mechanic for when you just want to kill time without engaging but balancing that may be annoying. In conclusion: Stardew valley fishing mini-game was fun .
Would be cool to see ice fishing on some lakes over winter.
Second this. And not a chance in the world I'll do the interactive fishing. I love afk-fishing, putting on some tv/video, chilling, watching my fish stack up, reading world chat. Interactive fishing makes me go cross-eyed.
