Bounty Hunter System

Hi,

As you know, the military node at metropolis stage gives us the bounty hunter which is great and I love it (and reduced corruption), bit it looks less great than for example the TP that the sci metro nodes gain or the global auction from the economy node.

Do we know if military nodes will gain something more at metro stage? Do you think the military perk is as good as sci and economics'?

    I think it's also supposed to get the Arena so for a lot of PvP enthusiasts the Military node would be a great place to call home regardless of the Corrupt/BH side of the fence for the benefits in addition to the easy access to instanced PVP.

    Since they're planning on a ladder system and PvP related rewards via the arena it seems that anyone who wants to focus most of their time PVPing would gravitate toward a military node.

    While I agree from a team/guild perspective the both the economy and travel nodes would be far superior however in terms of gameplay for PVP they would both likely lack the advantages to being at a Military node. However the Travel node may open up more access to open world pvp so players would need to choose what they prefer.

    I didn't read about the military node being the only one able to have arenas, if that's true, yeah, people will go there anyways, but I don't think thats the better way to solve this, cuz arenas are a really common think in most MMOs, and have that tied to a single type node it seems kind of odd to me.

    Well I'm not sure it's been confirmed officially or not but it would seem to make some sense to me. For example there is a single type of node for fast travel, auctions etc why not a single node type for arenas? Also most MMOs don't offer the PVP freedom this game will so not having access to it everywhere on the map will encourage people to relocate into areas they are interested in.

    You are right there, but every node will get an auction while only the economic one will have a global one, and the TP thing is only within the range/area of that node, and IS doesn't want to give TP easily.

    Big RT there, walk a religious path makes me drool, but I'm a PvP player so I'm between those two nodes, and I gotta know what gives each one before picking

    Yeah i'm jonesing for the final details on the Divine and Military nodes. We have not yet gotten a "Know your Node: Military" yet because too much of it is still up in the air. And we don't know the ultimate ability for a Military Metro.

    One "possible" ultimate being thrown around in Q&As is the Cross Server Archetype Hero title, where each archetype battles in the Arena to prove they are the best.
    Also from everything we've heard so far it has all suggested Arenas are only for Military nodes, I just watched through 6 Q&A videos and about 8 wiki pages and no where has Steven said yet that Arenas are a building any node can make, arena is always said along the lines of a military node. But honestly I hope they change their minds on that, in the spirit of giving everyone and anyone the ability to play arena, it should be made accessible to all players. And so any type of high level node could build one and you log into it and you can do instanced arena combat with anyone across your server. However taking this away as a unique feature of Military nodes means the devs have to come up with other cool unique things for the Military node to balance things out. *EDIT redacting this part after Tyrantor's reply to me below showed me the light.

    Potentially one of the contenders for our Military Metropolis unique benefits would be access to a kind of hero system based cross-server competition for specific archetypes, but we're still in discussions about that. – Steven Sharif

    Well it's possible you only need a level 4 or 5 military node to access an Arena - meaning that is not the military node's ultimate ability. Furthermore everyone would potentially have access to it within their node cluster(s) if the military node wasn't present the node cluster could simply siege one of the current nodes to remove it and level up the military node.

    Since the Mayor in the military node will be determined from Arena combat it seems like the most likely location for buildings to be located. I disagree that every node should have access to it, same thing could be said for every node's unique options like "Legendary crafting/repair abilities" etc etc.

    Oh you're right, I forgot that just because the highest ranked node in a sphere of influence might not be Military that doesnt mean there are not 1 or 2 military ones as sub nodes below and yes I agree, based on the mechanics it must be that at tier 3 (which is the first tier where you get to have a mayor) that any military node will have an arena spawn for free (it wouldnt have to be a construction project the mayor picks). So based on that there will be plenty of nodes with areans, no need for every node to have one since it's not that long of a walk between nodes. I'll have to talk with Lex over on the Wiki to make a bullet point that really sort makes this point directly.

  • Excited for additional node information, I think right now as it stands there's likely to be a few changes here and there so I guess it'll be a case of waiting until we move closer to Alpha 2 so we can start working out which nodes are going to be most beneficial.
