Player/mob Collision

I apologize if this questions has already been asked/answered. I tried searching a bit, but didn't find any forum post that jumped out at me...
Is there going to be some sort of character/NPC/player/mob collision in the game?
I understand the pros/cons for each point. And I've seen both variants done in different games. I'm just curious about AoC specifically. Will we be 'ghosting' through mobs & players as we move about. Or will making contact with other players/mobs cause a movement halting/slowing sort of impact?

So most likely yes.
The collision hitboxes can go from simple invisible cubes around the player, to very fit and complex shapes that matches the 3d model exactly.
We are probably going to get something in the middle for better performance.
This is collision for your 3d character.
Collision for melee weapons is a bit more difficult.
Not too sure about this, but something like adjusting a hitbox shape to the 3d weapon carried by your character and making it track movement during animation.
Complex shapes to track, with complex swings and arcs from weapons to track can be hard.
But at least, personal collision is made accesible by UE4.

At about 35:00 you can see them blocking the door with their bodies and pvp ensues.
Glad that there WILL be collision incorporated.

You can do that or use soft collision detection which will allow you to push past friendlies after a few sec.
The 'good' news is, since everyone is attackable, you can simply kill them if they refuse to move. Wonder if there will be justifiable homicide for griefers who are deliberately being asshats and do things like block doorways? That way you can kill them without gaining corruption.
They had to nerf the 'Cover Shield' in Star Trek Online, cos people used to stick it in a doorway, and the majority of players didn't know how to jump over it.
ohhh boi
No. Would be better if you did. Makes for good YT videos.
I expect to see afk people being pushed into combatant zones to kill them without gaining corruption.

Like going AFK in rift out in the open world. Just to come back in the middle of a zone event and find yourself standing in the graveyard.
I believe we may have stumbled upon a possible issue. Do we really want the ability to push others into hot zones or say off cliffs? If this is the way they go maybe you can only move them a limited distance before they become immobile?
This is why I like what WAR did and allow push through. You didn't actually move the friendly but could get past them with a few secs of pushing.
Or 'Worms' with the "Prod" off the cliff!
so many friendships have died with poke, that and banana bombs
Not really an issue. In one of the streamer videos Steven talked about going AFK and leaving his machine on. When he came back hours later they had moved him someplace else and built a structure around him with no doors and a gun on a table. This kind of stuff is super funny. Just don't go AFK for a long time in the world and nothing funny will happen. Or do go AFK so we can all watch the YouTube video and laugh.
I don't see any reason why peepooe that are AFK for hours should be protected at all.
imagine a guild of tanks
they all equip beginner weapons
use javelin to drag an afker to another node (maybe grab a healer so the afker doesn't die)
???
profit
I just realized, they could do this even if you weren't afk.
Hopefully there's some sort of CC cooldown so they can't just continually javelin you.
U.S. East
While that's very funny and good natured (where did they get a gun btw?!) If everyone played nice it wouldn't be a problem but we all know you have to bow to the lowest common denominator. It has the ability to turn toxic on live with people around every corner looking to kill you or be just total d*cks. Just look at New World as an example of what the a$$holes of the gaming community will do if given free reign. What if someone discovered a way to put your AFK toon in a position that you could not escape from, requiring GM assistance? Would that then be funny? You might think that would never happen, trust me someone will figure out some way to grief others just because they can.
I personally don't believe you should be overly punished for being AFK because everyone does it. If you do so out in the wilds you chose to take that risk but if you are in a town or what is considered a safe area, I would have a problem with that.
Fireball to the face!
