Humans for example shouldn't really be able to master much magic, while elfs should be the pinnacle of it.
As such, having a race of small creatures with a steampunk culture doesn't seem far fetched to me in Ashes world.
(I'm going to stop with the cute or furry terms and it upsets too many people I've noticed)
Also, I don't see why a steampunk culture can't have a bit of magic, in GW2 that was a bit of a thing and was cool.
Overall Ashes so far feels a bit too serious and very humanoid like across races.
It's not that we hate or we can't deal with steampunk things, im more of a medieval fantasy nerd but It's not a big issue for me. Too late to implement it tho.
How can you claim it's too late? we have 2 zones built only
The rest of the map is wide open to interpretation and being as big as Intrepid claims, I'm sure there is plenty of space.
And even if some things are defined, they are not set in stone in an alpha.
Lastly, the only thing you would need to change would be: Where would this new race live on the map and how each race would interact with each other.
That is by design. As unhappy as you may be about this. Myself and others are happy about this.
This is my personal feedback, shared to help the game thrive in its niche.
Its almost like its a western MMO and not a cash grab from the east,
Verra doesn't even have Black Powder.
You're still getting bogged down in traditional folklore. In Ashes Of Creation, the races were all created together by the same set of gods. Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs, aren't all that different. I see the word "human" as a descriptor rather than a race, as playing a RL human in the game would be completely shit, and nobody would bother.
The game has a post-apocalyptic setting. I think they should try to keep to that as much as they can on the basic level. What kind of creatures could survive and thrive in such a harsh environment? I picture the tulnar as brutal, because this world would be brutal. They got to fit that mold that they were cast into.
I too think that the Asura were a very cool race. Who knows, it could be a possibility for a DLC expansion where they further increase the map. Just cos it's not here now doesn't mean it can't ever be.
It's got white powder though, right? Right....?! RIGHT?!?!
*pssst* want some bone powder
Crack head Elves. Like they don't have enough personal challenges.
Well, in the WoW lore those are just elves in general. They are all addicts.
You realize that bone marrow is not white or solid right?
That would work too, I said Steampunk but in reality it could be anything more technology focused.
Potion Launchers are kinda steampunky. We have Scientific nodes.
Heck, we even have Stuffertons.
Stuffertons
Undead pickup lines just weird me out.
Gotta launch something to place in the catapults.
Besides just the Elves.
This game proyect right now feels like a good western MMORPG. And that is what I want.
Human / Elfs / Dwarfs/ Orcs are the best combo for this type of games...
A race like a hobbit or gnome is not a bad idea but i really don't like the steampunk races like gnomes in world of warcraft.
Would settle for a monster coin morph ability.
A man of culture I see.
Oh hell no, this isn’t Hello Kitty Adventure.
Be careful walking outside the city pal. Corrupted players everywhere.
I'll catch you at your favorite fishing spot and trade in 15 minutes of corruption to gank you until you realize logging out is a better use of your in-game time, than to say shit about me Orcs.
Safe travels weary traveler 😘
Wouldn't our incarnations and races therefore be the most-refined? Over the Ancients who - themselves - thought to ascend to the level of god-hood?
The gods created them first - but then kept on creating. Doesn't that say enough, about our natures?
