Weapon naming

  • I’m fine with weapon and armor naming if done right. If it’s just a free text field with no naming rules or limitations I’d rather it not be included. I liked being able to name gear in Skyrim because it made the game more immersive; even an uninspired/cheesy name for a sword still felt better to me than “orcish greatsword of shocks.”

I think the idea to have predetermined prefixes and suffixes could work, although at some point I think that would become less cool. And the troll behavior would probably still happen, you’d just have bad predetermined names lol

Whist not into naming a crafted item, I see no issue of branding an item with the crafter`s name.
    Great for business and reputation.

    That’s already being implemented.

Finally, the Crafter’s name will be embedded in the items they create.

Naming items isn’t something that has been announced and I doubt it will be. Just as we aren’t allowed to name nodes, but can choose from a list of pre-generated names.

Mayors have the ability to choose the name of the Node from a per-determined list.

Clearly the developers are worried about the potential for abuse if players are allowed to start naming things in-game however they want.
