FAQ
Q: Where and when can I download the latest test client?
A: The Intrepid Launcher is now available here, which you can download and install prior to the test window. After you launch the Intrepid Launcher, you will be prompted to log in - use the credentials for your Intrepid Account that has Alpha One access to download the game client and get the latest updates installed. Please note that you will only be able to log into the launcher to install and update the latest game client when servers are unlocked for testing.
Q: If I joined a previous playtest session, do I need to uninstall/remove my old test launcher and client?
A: Yes, we recommend uninstalling your previous test launcher and client if you have not joined us for testing so far in 2021. If you've joined us for more recent playtesting and spot testing, you should be able to patch up from your existing version. In general though, starting fresh with the latest files will better ensure you are able to successfully download the newest updates. To uninstall and remove all files related to testing, please follow the steps in our support article here. You can also learn more about the Intrepid Launcher (including when and how to repair or restore your game files) in our support article here.
Q: How do I log in and play?
A: In order to log in, use the credentials for your Intrepid Account that has Alpha One access to download the game client and get the latest updates installed. You may see several server options on the launcher next to the Launch Game button. Please attempt to join the servers that show a Low (green) or Medium (yellow) population before trying to join one that is High (red), unless you receive a message stating that server is full - then, you may select the next server and try again.

Q: What regions/servers are available?
A: During upcoming testing, we will be testing the functionality and stability of our eastern US, western US, and central EU servers. Please keep in mind your connection experience may vary based on your location. You may see several server options on the launcher next to the Launch Game button. Please attempt to join the servers that show a Low (green) or Medium (yellow) population before trying to join one that is High (red), unless you receive a message stating that server is full - then, you may select the next server and try again.
Q: Where can I join the discussion with the development team?
A: For the quickest updates from our team during upcoming testing, we recommend joining our Alpha One channels on our official Discord server! In order to see these channels, you will need to connect your Intrepid account that has testing access with the corresponding Discord account you wish to chat on. You can connect your accounts following the steps here! Please note that you will need to log into both your Intrepid and Discord accounts (you can choose to log into either one first), and then select the prompt to connect your accounts. You are also able to disconnect your accounts using this process as well.
Q: Where can I share feedback?
A: During upcoming Alpha One testing, we’re looking to gather your feedback on the download/installation process, client performance, server performance, and more! Please share your feedback on these topics with us in the official thread on the forums here. If you have other more general feedback you’d like to share with our team, please feel free to do so in our Alpha One forum category here!
Q: Where can I report bugs?
A: You can definitely expect to run across bugs while testing - please help us find and squish them! Make sure to report them in-game as they occur by accessing the main menu (hit Escape or click the icon in the bottom right corner). Select the "Report Bug" option and then fill out the subject and description sections to submit it to us for review. Check out this handy Bug Reporting Template to get you started, and please be sure to review our Known Issues list first!
Q: Will I be able to equip any of my cosmetic items?
A: There is not currently a way for you to equip your existing cosmetic items on your temporary character(s).
Q: Will my characters, progress, and items persist during and after this playtest?
A: Your characters, progress, and items may be wiped during or after testing.
Q: Can I PvP during this playtest?
A: Yes, you can PvP during this playtest, but please do not go corrupt (red name) and grief other players. Without all the mechanics for corruption in place quite yet, griefing can prevent your fellow testers from participating and providing feedback on the things we’d like you to help test. If our team investigates and finds you are repeatedly killing other players unprovoked, spawn camping, or participating in other similar behavior, account action may be taken accordingly.
Q: I got an error code while trying to log in or play! What should I do?
A: More information on error codes and next steps to take can be found in our helpful knowledge base article here.
Q: How can I get help with an account, purchase, technical, or other issue?
A: Our knowledge base has tons of helpful articles to address any questions you may have. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can open a support ticket for assistance.
Q: What are the system requirements to participate in testing?
A: Please keep in mind that Ashes of Creation is still being optimized, and with your help we can address any early performance issues. For our most up-to-date system recommendations and requirements, check out this helpful knowledge base article.
Q: Can I stream, share screenshots, or talk about this playtest?
A: Yes! As this Alpha One testing is not under NDA, you are more than welcome to capture videos and screenshots, stream, talk about your playtest experience with others, and more. Please keep in mind that as this is very early Alpha testing, you will only be seeing a small portion of Verra, and will likely run across many bugs. Your feedback will be crucial to improving the experience for all testers moving forward!
Q: Where can I get more updates on this playtest?
A: Keep an eye on the Alpha One forums and Discord channels for the latest news!

We want to be able to release the latest updates and fixes out to you on a regular basis, and sometimes that requires a wipe! We know it may not be ideal for everyone, but progression testing is also just as important to us

Yes, servers unlocked for downloading in advance of this test!
Correct, as noted in the system specs we shared in our FAQ here, you will need at least Windows 10 in order to run Ashes of Creation.
Right now our team's focused on some of the higher priority fixes listed above, as this is not a content test! That being said, please continue to report quest bugs to us in-game so we can review and resolve as we can
edit finally got the mats to make weapon and used mats and now I can sprint! where is the info about how overweight your are?
You should be able to hit O for options, toggle your game to windowed, resize it to another resolution, and then move it around as you wish! You can also hit Alt+Enter (Windows default) to toggle back and forth between windowed and windowed full screen.
No, there is no encumbrance/weight system - this particular issue you're describing can sometimes happen when your character gets stuck in combat. In order to fix this, you can unequip/re-equip your weapon, Ctrl+T, or simply switch character/relog to see it clear up!
Where is the US-West (Lyneth) server located? AWS allocates two locations for US West which are California (us-west-1) and Oregon (us-west-2).
