but the way the topic evolve is way from the inition. i made a suggestion and my goal was to communicate taht idea to the intrepid studios. disscussing now wheter or not waht is call what doesnt bring any benefit to the topic so it can also be closed. the idea was delivered so my goal was reached.

was nice disscussion but my lifetime is needed on other suggestions. and on testing alpha and reporting bugs.

a mage that can heal or a mage that can tank shure its a mage but its someing diffrent.
    Yeah, they are different.

Thing is, a mage/cleric in Ashes can just respec to a mage/tank.

As such, mage is the class, cleric or tank is a portion of the build.

No. If a game starts with 4 classes and then each of those branch at level 10. Those branches are sub-classes/specializations.
And a tutorial at the beginning of the game is not going to help anyone decide on the branches.
A tutorial probably also will not help most people decide on the 4 classes because most people will already know beforehand whether they prefer being a Warrior, a Magician, a Priest or a Hunter.
And the people who aren't sure about the differences between a Fighter and a Hunter will most often research that before they start playing the game.

We say Primary Archetype because that is the Ashes term for what other games call class.
The Ashes term, Class, is what other games call sub-class or specialization.

wy keep it simple when we can do complicated xD

the suggestion allredy changed and it not a "tutorial" its more a lore/guild ingame that peoples can use or skip.

shure thing it give something called google. but i cant remeber a game where not at least 1 person did ask something that could have easly be aswerd with google and even way faster.

    You gotta ask Steven that.
But, in this case because it makes the concept of the Ashes class system clearer to understand.
Sub-class or specialization could mean almost anything.

Primary Archetype provides active skills and Secondary Archetype provides augments.
Combining those two equals a Class
That actually is a pretty simple concept.

I’ve been griping about it for years now. The terminology is bound to cause the confusion you’re feeling. I think they made a mistake in using the term “class” in a way that other games don’t, because they’re going to create false assumptions. I’m totally with you on this one. But that’s the decision they made. :(

I understood the post different than the discussion that followed. I thought you meant having some training ground/early opportunity to sample the skills and play-style of each archetype before choosing. That I can get behind and should be easy since all classes use mana anyways. Is it that big of a deal? Not really, I think the exact mechanics of each class are not often make or break, people like the vision or idea of playing a mage or barbarian etc and pick their class accordingly (the flavor text in character selection is often enough). If they are trying to pick the most practical class for some gameplay purpose, they would need to do research and no in-game intro can help clarify that for them anyways. So, yeah it could be a cool addition but adds little to the game practically.

With regards to how the thread went, about switching primary archetypes etc... I'd just say the current system is fine from what we know (imo).
