Bounty Hunter: Skull Collector

I will throw a bunch player driven content ideas in the forum, here it goes:

Bounty Hunter kills someone, if it's a corrupted or enemy of the state or any special human enemy and not just a random purple... then the Bounty Hunter could loot a skull.

Skulls should be tradeable.

The skull should be a material for crafting furniture,

Maybe skulls could be also material for decorating ships or spells or quests.

PvE means: A handful of coins and a bag of boredom.

Of your four ideas posted this far, this is the only one in could see as being viable.

I could see furniture made with the skull of specific players (such as myself) being worth a fair amount, as long as you can see who's skull is in said furnature.

Yes, i understand, I will post more ideas.

I am considering these posts more like a think tank for increasing player driven content.

    Yeah, for sure.

This is why I didnt go in saying what I think is wrong with any of them. You're throwing out ideas, that's great, I'm going to just agree with the ones I really like.

    This one I really like.

what prevention do we have from letting it get abused?

i have 2 accounts, i turn one red, farm myself and now sell skulls.

The value of the skull is in who it is from.

Showing off a skull of your alt isn't going to impress anyone. Showing off a skull of the mayor of a metropolis, or the king/queen of a castle might.

If you are selling skulls and drop a ton of skulls in the market, then you will hurt youtelf, they won't have any value

But let's think about a couple options to prevent market crashes due to abuse:
    • building furniture would require unique skulls from different people
    • you could farm one skull from the same person only once per downtime

Having the name on the skull would make the items unique, so they would NOT be sellable in the market
If you put the unique skulls in the market then they become simple generic skulls usable as materials for spells and rituals

For furniture, the skulls would need to be unique items, one skull from each person... if a throne of skulls require 30 skulls then it would be needed 30 unique skulls still intact with the name of the victims

Unique skulls could be turned into generic materials at any time so they can be used as ammo for spells/rituals

I think we need generic nameless skulls and unique skulls with the name of the victim

The generic skulls would become ammo for spells and rituals
Can be sold in batches in the market

The unique skulls having names would be used for crafting furniture
Can't be directly sold in the market, unless the player right click on the skulls and clear their names and turn them into generic skulls

To emphasize what the OP said in the first post, skulls would only be generated from Corrupted characters killed by Bounty Hunters.

This will mean there will not be an awful lot of them out there. Skulls should not drop from green players otherwise this generates a high demand to PK greens - just the opposite of what the corruption system is trying to prevent. So, using them for spells could be unrealistic unless it was a rare and powerful spell.
  • I agree on not having skulls from greens, otherwise there is an economical justification for massacre on greens, we should avoid that.

I worry a bit that we won't have enough corrupted players

If Bounty Hunters could fight in the node wars, it's fair farming skulls there too, this is related to the other topic:

I think you are missing a point, those are all great ideas because they are not mandatory and they are player driven ideas.
Example: If you go to gym every day it becomes a habit, then it almost becomes a ritual for your life, you cannot feel good if you didnt go to gym that day, this same goes for these small events. Some players will play them, some won't, but point is that it can make a habit in players and then rituals, and that feel meaningful.
  • When you hover your mouse over the skull (for example on a chair) the nametag of the dead should pop up

iif we are going that route - can I not have skulls but skins please.

Ed Gein and I would appreciate that

  • Since the whole body turns into ashes when the character dies, how can there even be an intact skull to loot at all?

I asked that myself and I don't know either!
I wonder how even the armor becomes ashes

But hey... sometimes you guy a guy an there's actually loot? How?
The ash pile conveys the location of the body, so that the player may be selected for resurrection.[1]
The reason for why respawning occurs, as you guys know, the avatar of the Goddess of Creation is the phoenix; and the phoenix obviously has some very stable mythological lore to it with regards to the cycle of life and death and rebirth; and that type of thing. As you enter into the world of Verra you are in a way empowered with the spark of life that comes from the Goddess of Creation herself, and in that sense you're able to house a portion of what that represents in your soul and your... conduit to the essence.[2] – Steven Sharif

When a player dies they disintegrate into ash. The ashes contain any items lost by the player due to applicable death penalties.[1][2][9][10][11]

So the Goddess of Creation has a say in how people turn into ash and maybe why only the skull won't turn?
Well, she is a Goddess, she doesn't have to explain herself
    :#

Maybe the Goddess of Creation not turnning the skull into ashes is a way of saying that she acknowledges the suffering caused by the corrupted player?

    Who knows!
