The Tulnar's Song of Dreadful Dawn (a poem)

Darksome was the wood,
Fated was the day,
Where the Tulnar stood,
His flute at lips to play.

In his horry claws,
His silvern instrument delicately held,
Gently swayed his bearish jaws,
With scaled chest, as it swelled.

He played there for the Dryad,
For the tree-herdess he played the song,
Though the Tulnar’s melody was sad,
Its enchantment was strong.

She came, compelled to listen,
Her trees gathered in like sheep,
Her eyes began to glisten,
And she commenced to weep.

Longing filled her heart,
For places not yet seen,
From under trees she would not part,
For destinations never been.

The song told her of silver clouds,
And rainbows in the sky,
Exciting all her doubts,
So shamelessly she did cry.

The gray dull light,
Of the canopy filtered sun,
Left all uncolored in sight,
And left the heavens undone.

Never in Dryad's dreams,
Had she glimpsed the moon,
For not even the bright sun beams,
Pierced the forest’s gloom.

In a sudden start,
She wiped dry her tears,
As the Tulmar turned to part,
She forgot her trees and her fears.

To follow his song,
Her forest left behind,
To walk in the dawn,
Away from oak and pine.

The Tulmar’s lay,
It did not cease,
He lead the way,
Off to the east.

Toward sun's rising,
She followed his path,
The piper’s song hypnotizing,
From sleeping wood to yawning strath.

For the Dryad was bewitched by spell,
Ensnared by beauty and lie,
Away from the forest in which she’d dwell,
For servitude under the sky.

Darksome was the wood,
Dawning was the day,
Where beguilement not withstood,
Led the Dryad astray.

I hope you enjoyed some of my poem here. Thanks for reading!

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

Nice! I especially liked the part about the horry claws.
