I also personally want to see a slower moving, slower casting more heavy hitting style of mage as the default. The 'run and gun' style of mage they have now is what a Mage/Ranger should be, while a Mage/Mage goes full Megamin dropping nukes with fully rooted casting and long cooldowns. That covers the whole spectrum of mage play styles.
Am not a Anime guy but that one was funny as hell.
I dont like to be rooted ever it feels so bad.
That's fine, just pick a different class of mage which suits you more, but I am sure their will be mages players that ARE eager to give up mobility for raw damage.

✓ Guild is " Balderag's Garde " for now. (German)
It's obvious;
Rock - Tank
Scissors - Rogue
Paper - Mage
It works both practically and metaphorically.
Paper (Books) Mage tears bypasses Tank's armour.
Scissors (Daggers) Rogue rips up Mage
Rock (Armour) Tank resists rogue's daggers.
