I think what might be happening is that either copper is bugged and not respawning after being harvested when the server restarts or they are respawning as tier 2 ores that no one can harvest
Let me help clarify a few things because it seems like there’s a misunderstanding here about what this Alpha phase is actually testing. Right now, Ashes of Creation Alpha Two Phase One isn’t designed to refine crafting or adjust node resource distribution—it’s primarily focused on core performance testing, like server stability, client performance, and the download/installation process. So, no, crafting isn’t a priority at this stage, and they aren’t actively working on balancing crafting progression or node spawn rates yet.
The devs are intentionally holding off on fine-tuning aspects like crafting until they’ve solidified the foundational systems. That way, when the time comes, they can adjust gameplay mechanics, nodes, and crafting to align with the overall game balance and player feedback. So if crafting feels rough, that’s because it’s not the focus right now. Hopefully, this clears up why your experience felt off—just hang tight, and when the time comes, your feedback on crafting will definitely be more relevant.
I agree, combat system and overall idea of nodes and caravans is top tier, but this game is so raw and unfinished that I think phase 2 won't change anything. I hope they will manage to fix all stability issues and expand content until phase 3.
I spend the weekend trying to make some fish salad things.. and honestly I think it took over 20 different types of resources over different professions just to make a single fish salad..
That was for the only fish food that I could make.. sure there is a basic non fish salad but looking at the costs of the parts you are better off just buying the food from the vendor..
Anyway the starter crafting items should be easy to make so people can get into it and not get totally put off by a process that take half a day to make the most basic of items.
I check and they're no mention of pvp game in the kickstarter. I back for 125$ too in the kickstarter and i'm not a pvp player ^^
In the current version pvp have to much impact in the game for me too
@OP Good news is that copper is slightly easier to find now that some people are moving on from it and starting to target more journeyman tier gatherables (iron) instead.
The difficult thing is, right now we might be testing in a non-representative fashion, compared to how the game will be after full release because the player density is currently all crammed into one and a half zones, basically. There will be many zones at launch. But, on the other hand.. there will also be orders of magnitude more people at launch as well. So it is difficult to tell if the current gatherables density and spawn rate is well-tuned for the long run or not. I'm guessing there will continue to be tuning of this even after full release.
Atm resource spawners are fairly static, and on long timers so its easy to camp them if you already cleared them and you know the timers. This goes against the advertised design to some degree, and it's pretty bad for the player experience. You are not the first person (I was one of them) to come to that conclusion. I would rather have plentiful resources and deal with items you can only fix x amount of times before you have to craft them anew. New World just hit that spot for me with how satisfying gathering should feel. Ashes can feel like you get cheated out of your free time, and I hate that in games.
Anyway if you hated the early levels crafting experience, you will despise how it goes rather complicated and grindy later on. You are also reliant on multiple professions to obtain materials and components. It starts feeling a bit Eve Online out there, which I wouldn't mind if the game actually offered well designed tools for searching and trading.
Blown past falling sands…
Some suggestions, First don't look for copper nodes, takes too long. Mine every node you see, you can get random procs of copper from any node. you can vendor the Basalt/Granite or process them then vendor up to you.
NEVER walk around with your stuff in your inventory always put it in storage, you should only have rare mats on you when your crafting.
There is just as much Granite as Basalt, there just in different areas. Copper is some what rare, but if you just mine everything you see you can get a decent amount. If your a bit lucky.
