The Launcher

My computer is by no means the latest cutting edge computer, and my internet is pretty much middle of the road. Im not rocking dial up but I don't have fiber either.

However the launcher. It has shut my computer down more hardcore than anything else I have ever done on this computer since I have owned it. I have never seen task manager claim a program was using 100% of anything since I got it, yet the launcher for this game while downloading and installing taps out both my memory and disk usage to 100% and causes my whole system to freeze up every few seconds.

I am not alone in this regard - people with much better computers have also pointed out that the launcher siezed them up too.

So why is this happening? What is uniquely different about the AOC launcher that it absolutely dominates my computer like no other program or game ever has?

In a brief list, what are your components?

I have have not bumped into this issue myself and have what is thought of as a old computer by today's standards (pretty much 5 years old).

    Intel 10850k, 64GB System Mem, 2TB Gen 3 NvME, GF 3060Ti.

I'm just thinking out loud here (as I didn't write the software of course) but what can cause major hitching of several seconds is when the system is cashing out data in and out of memory with a swap file on the drive. This can happen often in games themselves, moving textures around in and out of video memory (just 1 example). This happening in the launcher is interesting as the launchers seems like it's browser based (someone can correct me if I'm mistaken).

I can easily see this happening if you had an old mechanical drive or an ssd; an nvme should be fine though. At 500GB what percentage of the drive is empty?

Like I said just trying to think of ideas, nothing more.
