"Connection To the Realm timed out" on 95% of attempts to load into the game since Phase II start

Last phase I had absolutely zero issues loading into the game, and once in the game, my connection was extremely stable. This phase, I get a connection timed out 95% of the time. If I die and have to go to loading screen to respawn, 95% chance I DC. Now, I also find that my computer is crashing just from trying to load into the game. Any time I succesefully connect it feels like a miracle.
I'm not tech savvy, but I had the task manager open once while I was loading into the game, and watched the memory section shoot up to 100% right before my computer crashed. I will say that my computer is quite old, but it meets the minimum required specs in all areas except instead of a GTX1070 I have a GTX 970. When I initially looked at the required specs a long time ago my current setup was fine, but the spec requirements were later increased. And again, last phase I played GREAT on the lower graphics settings, but this phase my computer is shitting the bed.
I understand that being out of specs basically puts me in the "it's your fault" category, but I'm curious if people have had greater issues with connecting to the game in Phase II now compared to Phase I? Any idea what's causing it or something I can adjust from my end? Or has the game really increased demand on my machine *that* much between phases?
Anyway, I'm considering upgrading my computer, but I don't want to drop that kind of cash specifically to play this game if it's not my computer that's the actual problem. Anyone have some thoughts?

You can give us a screenshot of the system information section of dxdiag, but if you're running a 970, and you bought it when you bought the computer, it is high time to upgrade - especially for alphas on newer versions of these game engines. The 970 released in 2014, and I am amazed the previous phase ran well for you even on low settings.
If you have the funds to spend now, HP has some deeply discounted systems with pretty decent specs. Their 25L system with an i5 and RTX4060 card is marked down to 799USD at https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/slp/hp-gaming/desktops because nvidia is preparing to launch their 50-series cards. There are likely other brands with similar markdowns, but I've purchased two of the 25L systems in the last 3 years, and they've been problem-free.
Best of luck.
