Drowning while logged off

Can we please turn of drowning while logged off. I lost a heroic Gryphon carcass because the game crashed as I jumped into a river on the way back from hunting. I don't mind as much when I lose materials because of pvp or poor decision making but it is really infuriating to lose it because of the game not working as it should.

    to be fair the same as crashing while running and having a mob kill you. Reducing how often one might crash would be a better approach to be honost

    Unfortunate for sure, though this is something you'd face in all games. If you crash, the server will keep your char connected for some time for obvious reasons. Often 20 sec up to a minute depending on the game. The question is can the server differentiate crashes and attempts at removing oneself from a potential death (Alt-F4, etc). Can Intrepid even make that happen?

    Similar issues. But I some how didn’t register crash immediately. Looked at the map was like huh why do I have a grave stone over there in water… weird. About five min later realized I couldn’t interact with anything. Logged out logged back in to begging dead in that exact location… ooooh

    I thought you didn't lose materials/items when you drowned? Did they change that?

    I lost a lot of materials from it so yes.

    the body being there is mostly to prevent people from logging off to dodge pvp.
    the body used to disappear as soon as you lost connection. so I don't see any reason why they can't turn off drowning specifically when you disconnect. it won't impact whether you can dodge pvp or not. just reduce deaths by out of game issues like pc's being iffy or crashes.

    my favorite bug back in the day was the caravans falling from the sky early alpha 2 bug when caravan randomly turns into caravan form where ur in the water

    they fixed that like 2-3 weeks ago
