FEEDBACK: Open Ocean Swimming

Summary:
The open ocean should be a place of wonder, and danger. Currently a player, such as myself - can cross the entirety of the ocean on a default mount. With absolutely no setback, aside from give or take 15 minutes of time. I'd like to see two changes that will make it so that islands can no longer be casually swam across by raiding parties, nor players being able to cross the ocean without a boat - and so that losing a boat becomes an especially perilous endeavor.
Issue:
Players can bypass the need for a boat, both when crossing huge sprawls of ocean - or when moving island to island.
Proposal:
-Double the breath that a player has across the board,
-Make it so that while in Open Ocean, stamina slowly drains to zero. When stamina drains to zero, the player will begin to lose oxygen even if at the surface of the water. After oxygen is depleted, the player will begin to die as usual.
-Mounts do not regenerate oxygen in the open ocean unless they are water mounts.

It makes sense that water mounts... would cross water. And that land mount, you guessed it - cross land.
Having distinctions is important for economy/purpose. While yes, you should definitely be able to cross some mild gaps of water, maybe a very small lake, on something say, a horse - it should not be possible for larger swaths of water.
I think implementing severe reductions in speed (which is what it would have to be, because right now it's only 15mins or less to cross the entire ocean on a stock horse) would not prevent people from essentially cheesing content. That to me is the equivalent of having a mount able to traverse insanely vertical slopes. Flying mounts have purpose, land mounds should have a purpose, water mounts should have a purpose.
Land mounts will most likely excel at moving across roads, which is likely where water mounts may suffer.
