Also, build up the guild that will support (but not dominate) the efforts of the nation and Church. Kind of like a Vanguard fully devoted to advancing the nation, but keeping the nation open to all players and guilds.
What were we talking about?
I really haven't decided what I want to do. Part of me wants to roll a mage/summoner, claim a small plot of land in the woods to grow herbs for various alchemical concoctions, to aid my adventures. Another part of me wants to play a Dwarf Tank, go after the best and most epic armour and weaponry available and stare the dragon in the face as me and my group take it down.
It'll take a bit of playing around to see what I really want to do, but all in all I'm definitely looking to participate in a guild, and take advantage of the full potential of the game. I'm going to definitely be signing up with a guild focused on building on our castle, controlling resources and fighting other guilds. Bring on the 300vs300 player fights lol
Also, just have fun and explore everything this game will have to offer!
I expect the classes and their abilities in this game to be fine-tuned, and therefore different from what we've seen before. My approach would be to play whatever race/class seems most fun, and then use that character to play as hard as I could against the environment. If this game is everything it promises to be, whoever has control over the environment will have the advantage in PvP. PvP is predictable in every game, and I expect there will be mostly Military and Economic metropolises for players to wage war over. But when one Node is destroyed, will the building of the next Node just be a repeat of the last? Or is the AI sophisticated enough to continue the game as if it were real history, never again showing us forests we cut down or monsters we obliterated? That is what the developers promise, and I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of AoC. If I can come in sometime down the road and destroy a metropolis from just a little plot of land, then turn that little plot of land into a new metropolis that unlocks never-before-seen game content, then I'll consider AoC a complete success.
IC:
Ruvaen is a rather old elf returning to the world depicted in Ashes of Creation and simply wishes to see the world he was forced to leave behind restored. He may be ancient as hell, but despite that, or perhaps because of it, he's a simple man. He won't aim to do anything grand himself(although it may be pushed upon him, I'm still playing with the idea), but keep to 'simple' good deeds to help the world on it's way.
Eris is his apprentice and kind of ambivalent about this 'different world' stuff. Unlike Ruvaen, her connection to this world is limited to tales told by her ancestors. Nevertheless, her loyalty to her teacher, while not always clearly showing, is unwavering, and if he wants to do this, why not? Her 'noble' family, who she had already on rather bad standing with due to her bastard status and tomboyishness, outright abandoned her when she horifically scarred herself when her magic went out of control, and her fiancé broke off with her because of her. She had simply lost her value. Her teacher picked up the pieces left behind, and shaped it into something cohesive and she loves him for it.
OoC:
I'll probably begin as an explorer/pathfinder/pioneer. I probably won't be involved in merchanting/crafting for once, aside from caravan-guarding and the occasional gathering and the like, so mercenary is an option. I'm going to try and find out all the Lore I can when I finally get into the game, in order to help other players with it. (And write it off as Ruvaen still knowing this stuff)
Politics might come later, as I AM interested in it, but both will try to avoid it with a passion, despite not neccessarily being bad it due to their backgrounds. This is partly due to health restraints IRL. There will likely be long periods of times in which I will be inactive, so I can't get too involved. And this way I can write it off as them going on a mission/expedition/journey etc.
---
This is just initial stuff though, it might change once more information/lore/etc. becomes available.
Plus I want to build a house in a far off corner, spend my days crafting and farming, on days I get bored I'll go chec k on lowbies, and help them out with materials and such, pk griefers etc.. Protect my caravans all that jazz :D
I aim to make a small little cave somewhere in a mountainous region if possible and farm herbs for alchemy.
I vote for phasing. Very much so.
Then I'd find myself a nice spot of land and build a farm there, in an advantageous location, maybe close to a well frequented tavern. I'd set to breeding rare mounts in the best possible quality, way better than can be found out in the wilderness and sell them to the travelers who are coming by my estate. That would be... awesome.
I can only imagine meny will set their plots on those roads for max benefits of posible travelers if it means you can open up your plots for public use for tax or something like that.
We do know that none of these things arent acturally confirmed yet, but we like to believe that its where the game is headed! :)
Bounty hunter may draw me in if the wee boys don't behave themselves! I might have to contend to be a pocket healer and help the hunters though depending what course I take.
Now beetroot...
FOOD!~
During betas, and thereafter i'd like to lead a guild of my own where i can share my knowledge and help push others forward to achieve top rankings on the leaderboard, as well as create a name that is a precursor for the untimely demise of any would-be opposition.
too much ?
