Forums versus Discord - Which do you prefer to get your game updates through?

    Discord is undoubtedly superior; but for MMORPGs it just feels right to use forums.

    The forums are way better since posts here are easier to find, refer to and will likely include more detail. Ideally both should be used regularly so we can reach as many people as possible.

    I'm hoping the forums become as reliable of a news source as discord is with the new CM team @MargaretKrohn @LieutenantToast

    It'd be nice to not have to be on discord at all, even as PI!

    @tugowar I like both, mostly because I see it faster on discord when gaming, but forums give such a good feeling when reading it xD

    I think the forum is a better place for bigger announcements, but Discord is best for immediate updates as it seems to be the superior platform for an active userbase.

    Discord is a faster way to get informed of news and announcements. But from a community perspective I've always preferred forums.

    I used to love browsing forums 10 or so years ago, it was a nice pace from the speed of live chat.

    However, seeing as everyone feels the need to start their own thread dedicated to asking one or two questions [most of which have been asked before many times], it turns into a cesspool of random 4-reply threads and nothing is organized because it simply can't be.

    It's a shame, but hopping on discord to check announcements or ask someone in general chat a quick question is a lot easier.

    I prefer FORUMS, as you can always go back thru and pick up info for reference if you need, or if you've been away for awhile to catch up. On Discord, you can miss vital information very easily.

    As long as the forums are active and being kept up to date with the latest info; I prefer forums. Although after using Discord since the old forums went down, I don't mind it that way either.

    Either way, I do hope that they keep both updated, I believe they have indicated that is their aim.

    I feel this is just a way for @Tugowar to get more likes for badges ;)

    For official announcements I prefer forums, but discord works too. I will admit the last time i got on Discord was to find out why the old forums weren't working anymore.

    For discussion I prefer forums. An extended conversation with a group is easier to follow in a thread and I can get up and do things instead of sitting in front of the screen waiting for replies.
