subssubs Member, Braver of Worlds, Alpha One
I hope the dwarves we can make more muscular and not look like midgets. more of Lord of rings movies or Warhammer MMO even WOWs are good looking dwarves. I really like playing dwarf hopefully will look good or can adjust body sizes to make look the way we want

It's true. The Niküa are incredibly unique in the fact that they seem to prefer coastal regions to mountain fortresses. I wonder if forcing to leave Vera made them feel anxious and unprotected by the mountains, because the Dünir needed to leave anyway. I wonder when the split between Dünir and Niküa occured.

Things I'm excited to research and uncover when the game goes live.

my thought of Dwarves are mining all day big broad arms and chest, that likes to have a good Stout at the end of the day. and has the beer belly to go along with it

The amount of beard is directly related to the amount of testosterone I think.

    Hilarious!
I never considered the turf war between these two.
    Brutes or Vermin? Tough call.

I'm with you on the stout at the end of the day. Or in the morning. Or in the afternoon. Or in the shower.

But from what I hear the Niküa are shandy drinkers.

Might stick with the Dünir until it's proven otherwise.

I heard the Nikua drink hard seltzer and wine coolers.

That's why you can see their fuzzy navels.

Why? All of the preview images and concept art show them having facial hair of some kind. Here are some others, aside from the picture above in this thread.

I'm unable to find an image of a male that doesn't have facial hair.

The Wiki is wrong. It totally misquoted Steven, who said that Dunir females will have beards, but not Nikua. He said nothing about males. If you follow the link they use to cite the statement, it's pretty clear what he said.

I think Dwarfs should have similar look like the ones in the witcher or lotr. One head shorter than humans but broader and more stubborn. NOT like Hobbits or goblins

I've been looking at videos of Ashes and would like to add my 2 cents here: the problem isn't just that dwarves aren't muscular enough, they are just too small. In the gameplay videos they look like they are 3" feet and a tiny bit tall, they should be 4" and a bit. D&D 5e player's handbook describes dwarves as follows:

    > Though they stand well under 5 feet tall, dwarves are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller.

    Old D&D sketch:

    Old Warcraft sketch from Metzen

If Ashed did nothing but scale the models up by some ~20%, they would automatically become about as wide and tall as they need to be.

LoTR Dwarfs or Warhammer dwarfs would be perfect in my opinion

You'd need to add another leg too, if you were adding another foot, or they'd look even weirder.

    Oh, wait....

    Never mind... :(

I'd say the bigger problem is that people think one fantasy universe/IP (e.g. D&D, WoW, Tolkien) sets a standard that other fantasy settings need to copy and can't deviate from.

Edit: don't know if there's much that can be done about it though; people like what they like.
