I thought i remember them mentioning it in one of the livestreams. Like enable a setting so you see everyone's actual armor instead of skins... But then with transmog and stuff i feel like that wouldn't work either, and people wouldn't like that haha

Ex: Plate wearers nameplate has silver border, Cloth wearers nameplate has green border and Leather wearers nameplate has red border. Well something of this sort. Information conveyed and no extra clutter.

They will have an indicator in some way for most prominent gear type worn, as confirmed by Steven’s comments on such, but I always imagined a little buff/circle next to their name plate that represented it. I like outline of your name plate idea more though. I really hope they are going to go ham on our UI flexibility so maybe make it a choice which version to use if it’s difficult for colorblind folks to have the colors.

I know it’s my personal standard as far as AoC information goes and can’t expect others to feel the same, but if it’s not on the wiki somewhere I’m far more likely to assume it is an unknown. Steven has definitely said some random off the cuff stuff when let loose into the environment. Margaret joining the team was such a positive addition to help lessen that.

Noaani seemed sure so I figured it had to be somewhere. I feel much better discussing with that question answered.

To paraphrase, ‘no there will not be an option to turn off player cosmetics, the default character appearance will only be used and present in activities that may be taxing on performance’. So as of now, you are correct in that option not being on the table as a solution. Tbh I don’t know how I feel about that which is why I didn’t continue the discussion. There’s a big part of me that views cosmetics/transmog as just something for myself to enjoy my character more so I personally don’t care if there’s an option to turn them off. Fashion in games isn’t as big of a deal to me or my circle of people I play with, but I also don’t know many people I play with that distain cosmetics either. That just puts me at this ‘meh’ point with the topic. The only horse I have in this race is to not split up the populations into different server types.
