Do you think any of these things won't eventually be in the game?
its a fucking video game mate, so now you wanna control/limit how people move their characters based on what you think looks good? whats next running should be tied to a heart beat system because in real life people dont run around all the time and we should be walking?
hey the chicken emote looks dumb lets remove it!
Lets
Giving players the freedom to jump only to cause them to have any sort of counter measure that directly takes away that freedom is ridiculous. Punishing someone for spamming spacebar when it does not benefit you to spam it in the first place doesn't make sense.
There is no such thing as bunny hopping as it is since true bunny hopping gives you a benefit for doing so. True bunny hopping glitches the mechanics and gives damage reduction, faster movement, reduced stamina usage which are not a part of AoC.
Don't change jumping. Allow people to spam spacebar if they want to and don't waste time developing useless mechanics that WILL be abused. Forcing movement speed changes, jump punishments or things like that are why bunny hopping are even possible.
I give You my Like only because You added "FFS" at the End of your Comment, Liniker. I love it when People swear and curse.
Kidding
Actually, Yes. Why not, in Case of doubt ? Let People play the way they like. That being said, Liniker - don't regret the optical Horrors You just summoned in a handful of Years or so.

It requires decisions to be made by the team either way. It is fine to let jumpers be jumpers, so long as there is not a mechanical benefit being granted for it. If there is, it should be addressed and balanced. Are the devs sitting around testing and balancing around jumping vs not jumping right now? Nah probably not, it is likely something they'd rather wait til A2 to see and determine if it needs to be addressed at all.
So far I see 5 people who replied in support potential balancing or mitigation, 9 who don't want any balancing, 4 who kinda seem to be "as long as there's no advantage its fine" and 2 who I'm not exactly sure the point you're making. This isn't really a sampling of the whole population of players, but at this point I think we really need to see how it plays first-hand to get a better idea of how it exists now and whether it is fine or has some issues.
We all know Steven is a frequent jumper so they won't go too far on mitigation of jump-related activities. I have a feeling you can't air-block or air-dodge anyway so being in the air means likely you're already somewhat defenseless.
You can't look at this only from one side. Someone who enjoys jumping will support jumping. Someone who doesn’t like it will be against it. The answer should lie somewhere in the middle.
No one wants jumping to be removed completely, and no one wants to stop those who enjoy it from doing it. But if someone is visually bothered by it, you can’t force them to be okay with it and just accept it either.
It’s like if I, as a PvP player, said that I would prefer the penalty for PK (player killing) to be significantly lower or even non-existent. However, many people would complain that they only want PvE, not PvP.
The system was designed in a way to satisfy both sides to a certain degree. So jumping should work in a similar way — if you want to jump just for fun, you should be able to… but for example, jumping could slow down your movement speed.
That way, if you wanted to be efficient, you wouldn’t jump. This would limit jumping significantly without banning it completely for those who simply enjoy doing it for fun.
What they need to do is a) stop being able to dodge after a jump, that's just silly b) stop people from jumping while attacking, the speed reduction is supposed to be a balance thing which is countered by the jumping.
The issues with targeting people is an issue with targeting in general, the action mode cam has a really hard time targeting anything right in front of you if the crosshairs are above the target. It's also not re-acquiring targets when they loose them. Like if a rouge goes stealth mode and comes back the player won't have a target and has to tab to get a target again, making the aiming system a useless gimmick
No it shouldn't.
You absolutely can look at this from one side, because those that don't like it have no good reason for not liking it. Just "not liking it" is not a reason, it is an opinion.
This doesn't mean we are telling people that are bothered by it to just accept it. Rather, we are telling them to harden the fuck up and realize they are not the center of the world and things do not only exist for their enjoyment.
So, it's telling them to accept it but in a much harsher, real world kind of way.
You are wrong. An opinion is that I don't like it, and the reason or fact is that it looks stupid when you can constantly jump like a frog.
Why even have walking and running if everyone just keeps jumping?
It doesn't leave a good impression when you see dozens of people on the screen fighting, but everyone is jumping around like monkeys, rabbits, and frogs.
They might as well have added such races to the game, and then I wouldn’t have anything to complain about.
No, you thinking it looks stupid is your opinion. You not liking it is also your opinion.
The reason we have walking and running is so that people that do not enjoy jumping around can still get around the game world.
No, the reason why we have walking and running in the game is simple. It's a normal thing and a way to move from place to place, just like in the real world. And we have jumping to allow players to jump over obstacles.
But most people jump around like crazy nonstop and use it as a way to move from point A to point B. So they are replacing walking and running with jumping.
If you did that in real life — jumping like a lunatic to get around — everyone would think you were insane.
And that's exactly what I don't want: for the game to look like a mental institution for these kinds of people.
Constant jumping should simply be penalized, at least by slowing down the movement speed, so players don't abuse it all the time.
Of course, they could still jump for fun if they wanted, but it would definitely reduce the number of players jumping around like crazy.
Ashes of Creation is a game (well, will be a game, it is currently a potential game in testing).
The point of a game is to have fun.
If people are playing the game in a manner that they find fun, they are playing the game correctly. Perhaps they are jumping around in game because they can't do it in real life - you and I have no way of knowing, and also no reason to need to know. All we know is that these people are indeed having fun.
If people find the actual literal sight of other people having fun in a way that doesn't affect them other than actually seeing it, then the fault is with those people, and no one or nothing else.
That really is the limit of the effect of people jumping around is. You are literally just watching other people have fun. If watching other people have fun in a way that doesn't impact you past the fact that you can see them having fun triggers you so much that you would try to prevent them from having that fun in the first place, consider self reflection.
You saying that you think someone having fun should be penalized because you don't like seeing them having their fun seems far more like the actions of an insane person than someone jumping around.
AoC is not just an ordinary game, and it’s not made solely for fun, but also to become the best and most complex MMORPG possible. That’s why Intrepid is paying close attention to every single aspect of it.
Yes, the foundation of any game is fun. But it’s also important to distinguish what is considered fun and what is simply too much for this type of game.
Nowadays, many people perceive even completely abnormal things as entertainment.
And just because a part of the player base thinks something is normal or fun, it doesn’t mean it actually is.
Today's world has completely distorted priorities, morality, and so on.
It’s important to know where the boundaries are.
