An entire servers PVP was disabled for ONE STREAMER

This games Dev team says they wont give special treatment to a streamer. Then they shut the PVP down for thousands of other players because ONE PERSON GOT GANKED HOW IS THIS FAIR TREATMENT ?!?

ONE PERSON I.E. A STREAMER TURNED OFF A GAME FEATURE FOR THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PLAYERS BECAUSE HE GOT GANKED.. LET THAT SINK IN PEOPLE. DO YOU THINK THEY CARE ABOUT YOU ?

SOME PEOPLE PAID MULTIPLE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO PLAY YOUR GAME AND YOU CHANGED IT BECAUSE ONE PERSON GOT GANKED WHAT A JOKE... SHOWING YOUR TRUE COLORS ...

just like every other game Dev team only about streamers and the money that follows....

That's your personal opinion if you think all of that is bad, I personally I think it's in a good place. Being camped right out of the gate is objectively bad, and there isn't really an argument for it. So yes, it will be a huge concern for a lot of people that aren't as interested in PvP and will set a bad impression for more PvE orientated players.

Of course it's my personal opinion. But I've read it often enough in the Twitch chat.

Of course Asmongold has an influence. But I wouldn't overestimate it. He's made enough videos about how bad WoW is now and yet the game is doing just fine.

In my opinion, it's much worse to sell the game in its current state for 120 euros.

It's not enough to say that it's a very early version and you shouldn't buy it if you're expecting a finished game.
Many people just say “This is the MMO that is being sold for 120 euros”.

I think it would have been much better to wait another year and then implement a much more finished version.
There is a reason why no other game studio releases such early versions without a NDA.

I think the fact that people were banned because of Asmongold also has a clearly negative impact. And I'm not saying I think the behavior of the people in question is good, quite the opposite.

But it's not a good thing when streamers are given preferential treatment in public.

“Streamers given preferential treatment in public” I’m currently at work so my reply will be short but I have more to say on the subject but I’ll do so when I get home. So a guild of 300, 800, 50 even if they are all in discord talking and someone kills said player and he puts a KoA on this person or a guild and all there friends are told, and kill this guy or guild mercilessly is that player or guild privilege? No because it’s part of the game the guy attacked him while they were in his stream watching him play. So people shouldn’t have consequences for being fudge heads and killing the guy just because he is a streamer. Would have done the same with my guild, same thing would have happened if he was a streamer or not. Only thing being a streamer did was let the whole world watch the guy and his guild get roasted for a bad decision they made.

I happened to have been watching when this was playing out live. PvP can be fun but it was clear griefing was happening. Steven sent out warnings, and his own words, several warnings. They did not stop. So they turned it off. If children will not listen, then they have their toys taken away. Pretty simple really.

The whole Asmond situation was a massive oversight by Asmond and Intrepid...Systems that were ment to protect the new player experience was not in place...

Now the damage control looks like favoritism...

Mistakes were made, So all that can happen is Learn and improve...

I think they will enforce punishment for targeted harassment of players when they have the evidence to do so. So while it’s possible to go after an individual player or a small group of players, care should be taken to avoid the appearance of targeted harassment. Kind of like the rules and then the spirit of the rules. Even if you follow rules as written, breaking the spirit of those rules can often be worse than actually breaking a rule.

I would also like to mention that many streamers also tested the game did not experience the same thing as Asmond..

The problem is not the game, the issue is Asmond's "fanbase" and the fact he wont be able to livestream playing it...Which pretty much happens to him whatever multiplayer game he plays...

Intrepid should have known better...But now we all have to watch some fallout and damage control...Which is unfortunate

So you'd like it if someone was always there when you spawned in to kill you over and over and over? Regardless of what you say, I know as well as you know that you wouldn't like that. It's because it's not pvp, it's griefing for the sake of griefing.

You must have issues if you think the reason they disabled starting zone PvP was because of Asmongold.

I think the topic starter is not concerned about PvP itself, but about the different treatment of players and one streamer.
About the need for safe zones, the need to ban PKing up to level 5—all these things testers suggested almost from the beginning of the pre-alpha. And the answer was something like, "There will be guards to protect you." But as soon as one streamer started dying a couple of times, a GM came to help.
The sincere bloodthirstiness of those who killed Asmongold was to show the developers that they live in their fantasies.

Unfortunately, this is the reality of this studio, and we have nothing left but to accept it. Priority will always be given to top media personalities, then US servers, then guilds associated with employees, then friends and big donors, then everyone else. But there's nothing we can do about that; such is life. On the other hand, we can use this to our advantage.
For example, if we figure out how to exploit Asmongold, we can quickly get a fix for this system. If he dies a couple of hundred times up to level 10, maybe they'll start thinking about penalties for newbies, etc.

In general, instead of discussing injustice and equality, which only exist in fairy tales, let's think about how we can use this to our advantage.

they should make a streamer server tbh and let the streamers guilds duke it out on the one server

Well, if you block all the exits and Lionhold itself in advance and don't turn on the stream, it won't be sniping

It will be a gameplay moment. Just like in the good old days, when people were killed on respawn until they left the server.

it does atleast get more costly/harder grief people once they level up since u cant do it with lvl 1 characters :P need a bit more investment/gear risk to do it as they level higher with the corruption system

Guys guys guys. Do not defend steven on this one. The game should have had the protections in for starter zones and cities day one of the alpha. This is the truth of the matter. Those players were operating within the games allowance. They also got banned correctly after being warned. They knew what they were attempting to do.
However, even though steven is in the wrong for not having the feature in, this does not mean asmon is not also at fault. He knew the game was open world pvp. He started the game as the most popular streamer to ever play the game, all alone. With no intent to even research the start, or get people to talk to about the alpha or anything. He says he knew this would happen. yet did nothing to protect against it.

So both steven and asmon are at fault, but mostly Steven for not making sure the game was ready for the public.
