yeah i watched that too but it didnt translate well for me. i could read the skills and they look very similar to non lineage players. i also didnt get what it is with cubes and i think maybe not all classes there was summoners.
as you can maybe read out of it. i got more confused sadly. idk if you can give a little more insight in conjunction with the summoner info that we have so far.
stevens statement that L2 summoner is the closest sounds to me too vague since theres 4 classes called summoner and your video showed like 8-10ish classes.
The cubes are simply automatic summons that are uncontrollable. You simply summon them and they do their effect on the target on a CD. I personally think that majority of X/Summoner classes in Ashes will have something along these lines, except it might just be a slightly different visual. You'll have a "summonable entity", but you will not be controlling it.
As for additional info, what would you wanna know? Cause considering this page https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Summoner I'd say I touch on almost all so-far-known mechanics in that stream (to at least some extent).
The pictures Steven showed don't really tell us anything. We also dunno what the stars on summons are related to. It could be "several summoners creating a summon through a synergy spell" or it could be "how many points you invested into the summon skill of this creature". As for perceived archetypes of summons - I went into that to the best of my ability in the stream, explaining my reasoning behind attributing different mechanics/features to different archetypes.
i think those starts could mean how much of our archetype resource we need to summon it. example: 1 summon with 2 stars + another one with 1 star = 3 stars/archetype resource used. but thats all just speculation
in the video you showed abilities behind your camera. where they for the class or for the summon? do you put summon abilities on your hotbar or is that in a separate action bar?
are you playing "through your summons" in L2 as steven/bucky wants to make it?
i hope thats not too confusing..
i just wanna get my hands on it and give feedback XD
Here's a full layout of stuff
Earlier versions of L2 didn't have separate action bars, so it was all one, as in the screenshot. I expect Ashes to have full customizability.
I show it with the cat summon at the start. I can tell it what to do and it does so. I assume that's what Steven is talking about.
I am curious how exactly they'll realize it mechanically in Ashes, cause L2 is a click-to-move game, so the summon can mostly move between targets (yourself included). Ashes is completely different, so I got no clue how it'll be designed tbh.
I HOPE THIS DOESNT MEAN SUMMONER IS A MELEE CLASS NOW OMG OMG. If it is i'll need a refund ;(
that was really interesting. i would also assume that we have those few summoner abilities and then the green/summon abilities are the most of the summoners skillset. thx for the info!
i really hope they do it properly with the summon movement to be easy usable in action and tab mode.
vaknar really just reposting old info on socials? ^^
i mean would make more sense to not drop that stuff somewhere in some chat but more officially in the first place
@Auldrakar im sure they will do range summoner options. if we are lucky there will be both. as example it could be + skills where you choose range or melee versions similar to singe target vs aoe options. that would be perfect
I am a bit confused now. How exactly would this function ?
Like a "Death Knight" for Example from World of Warcraft ??
I mean : he IS a Summoner in a sense, but also a Melee Fighter at the very same time.
At this Point i don't really care as much. As long as i get "finally" my Decades long awaited Necromancer-Experience in an MMORPG.
Let's be honest. The Death Knight from WoW doesn't cut it.
✓ Occasional Roleplayer
I am in the guildless Guild so to say, lol. But i won't give up. I will find my fitting Guild "one Day".
Yea, I played some Warlock in WoW to try to get the vibe, but didn't cut it. Played a Necro in DAoC, that was kinda good.
I don't think the Summoner is going to be a melee'er tbh. I wouldn't care if it was just the Summoner/Fighter who could do some decent melee, but idk how that would work in terms of them augments. Turning spells into melee abilities? Weird.
Probably the Summoner class choice will considerably impact the pets you get and what they do, and Summoner will be a caster no matter what.
