Same noses on every race model sized differently, same eyes, oversized cheekbones... FFS! Put the green skin on that Py'rai and you have Ren'kai. HOW ARE THEY NOT SEEING THIS?!
WTF ARE THOSE BANGS?!
Same slightly stylized cr*p and everyone is ugly. Dunir have sunken faces ffs and gnomish bodies! Empyrean still look like meth addicts...
It's like a single person is in charge of character design and 3d modelling and there is no one there to tell them they are doing it wrong...
Wtf!
God, I miss the old character creator-The one Steven used to create Asmongold.
I honestly haven't noticed those things until you pointed it out. Why did you do this to me?!
Honestly. These MUST - be Placeholders.

I am in the guildless Guild so to say, lol. But i won't give up. I will find my fitting Guild "one Day".
Which, if this makes it to release, will be a deal breaker for me. I don't play a Korean grinder that looks like Gilead Online.
i checked the PTR CC and man...it was way worse than i thought it was
I don't really want to hear voices that match the visuals... my young elven bard will sound like Marge Simpson.
always funny to me how western companies use models that are usually attractive or good looking then uglify the hell out of them while the eastern ones make them as beautiful if not more .
oh and the western ones usually dont have a problem with male ones ...i wonder why
Male Examples
WESTERN
VS
EASTERN
My god, I'd feel so insulted by what the game did to my likeness, as a western model.
Let's say it as it is.
This State here is ONLY acceptable - because it is still the Alpha.
This - HAS TO CHANGE - during Phase Three, at some Point. And i do not even mean Audio/Voice Lines when for Example something is out of Reach or so - like in Worst of Warcraft.
These Models ?
These are not models. These are Placeholders. AT. BEST.

The problem I see is, their concept art doesn’t look any better
Wouldn't a whole lot of People disagree with you on that ? Until now i haven't seen any "looks" on Alpha Two Characters which match the Concept Art looks.

I'm sure it's been mentioned several times in similar threads but allowing too much customisation just creates rigging problems for armours and whatever dress up players fantasize about.
But then it concerns me deeply that intrepid have announced they are implementing 100 or more cosmetic costumes at the start of phase 3, which must have all been modelled for these character models? I really hope that intrepid can see that they need to ditch the current models and that the art looks absolutely terrible instead of trying to patch changes in like different eye colours or hair styles.. basically every single race right now including the vek and both dwarf races are just humans with different hair styles or weight
As one of the few People who came up first with saying they are Placeholders here in the Forum,
i want to tell You that this is what i hope for. It's more like a desperate hope, than a sure Statement.
Why ?
"Why" is it my hope ?
Simply because how absolutely underwhelming your Character looks after you have created him/her. It bugs me greatly that Games like Worst of Warcraft do a better Job of showing the Visuals of the Faces of the Player-Characters than Ashes of Creation.
I know. They are cartoony to a certain Degree. Ashes looks way more "realistic" compared to the Comic-Graphic Style of WoW.
But this is still weird. It's like all Visuals and Graphics shown from Years before is HEASILY down-toned and downgraded for the Alpha Servers.
As long as this is an Alpha-only thing, this is no Problem. It will get concerning towards Release however. If i am get "lied to" anyway -> can we have at least Options ingame for the Graphics to individually raise the Graphics and "Looks" of the ingame World ? Even if about Nobody will have a Computer before 2040 or higher that will be able to show everything smooth and fluid-running when we travel the ingame World of Verra ?

this , i doubt there is saving whatever these races are , like hell steven was happy with the character looks today while looking at a ugly dwarf that had most of its face covered outside of its gigantic nose which was also as big as a gnome which is something they said they fixed but they really didnt ,so much for listening to feedback...like holy hell
Yeah, it is a product of the community. The product of an easily "offended" North America (I use quote there as the bulk of these people dont know what being actually offended even is).
Go back 5 to 10 years ago, every female gamer (it seemed) was on every game developers case about the female models in game, how they were setting unrealistic expectations. A handful of news outlets (a term used very losely here) and tried to make it a big deal. These people seemed to think that game developers were the moral arbiters deciding what a female should look like - an obviously absurd notion.
This didn't happen in Korea, because in Korea, the goal is perfection - even if that means surgery (Seoul is the cosmetic surgery capital of the world). Koreans weren't offended by perfect looking characters in games, they looked at that as a reason to up their own game.
And now, half a decade or more later, we are left with a situation where developers creating games aimed at that easily offended market need to tone things down, while developers creating games aimed at the other market simply do kot need to do this.
It sucks, but don't blame developers, and don't make the mistake of thinking they cant make them look better. The blame lies elsewhere.
