If release is in autumn/winter, I could probably arrange vacation on work during the first 1 or 2 weeks for release. If release is in spring/summer, I will have to ask for a day off to enjoy release.
2. Stock the cupboards
3. Say Goodbye to the world
4. 2 Weeks Ashes holiday here we come
It's swiiiiiiiiiiiim time!
(I'm probably going to jump into the world's ocean(s) the first chance I get, regardless of gear and potential sea monsters XD)
Currently running a i5 Ivy Bridge, with a GF760.
Having 32GB memory is nice though, its fun running some older MMOs off a ram drive. (If said game is less then 25GB, which is getting rarer and rarer these days)
1. Ensure PC is on par with recommended requirements.
2. Clear schedule of work and other menial tasks.
3. Stock kitchen with convenience foods and a lot of booze.
4. If you have them, stave off the kids for as long as possible (I'm still free of that haha ).
I'll probably add sinking my teeth in to video's and other sources of information to get all the hints/tips before I jump in!
However, I will very likely upgrade my gaming setup just before release. But for better or worse, got plenty of time before I have to worry about that.
Lot's of coffee, costco run, and sleep 24 hours prior.
If all of the alpha/beta people are on the head start servers, then no one really has an advantage, but if some of those people wait and start on the later servers, then they will have a big jump on the experiential knowledge needed to get ahead of most every new player rather quickly. I'm conflicted.
Consider people like ourselves as well whom have discussed and theory crafted the game for years before it is even released.
Or even more extreme people whom have played MMO's and been gaming for many decades.
Experience scales greatly. It's situational, and not something that the developer should really worry about too much aside from..."Easy to be good at hard to master" mentality.
I'm wondering if other alpha/beta players realize any of this. And with some proper planning you could be a rather big fish in a small pond. At least initially, but if you can keep the momentum going....well you know the rest.
My hat is bigger ^^
*shakes head*
