  • I was looking for a new MMO to play. Getting that MMO craving since it's been a while. I'm another bloke who found this game through LazyPeon's Youtube channel. He really talked it up. It caught my interest and I looked into it. Now, here I am!
  • I think someone posted it on facebook and I followed the link to the kickstarter.

There was a Facebook ad and I clicked on it and I was like Oooooooo
I usually avoid fb ads but I'm glad I clicked on that one!

Huh.  I thought they were doing zero advertising.
No idea how it was on fb but that's how I got here o.o

Oddly enough GamingBible did a post on facebook about AoC with a video the day before the kickstarter finished, after looking at the video I clicked the link to the kickstarter to learn more and then ended up throwing my money at my monitor.

I almost tossed my tea when read this and laughed!
Glad you enjoyed that little tale.
  • Like half of the people here, I found it from TheLazyPeon. It's now the first game I've backed on Kickstarter.
  • I was a follower of Deaths Proxy becase of his videos on light and dark.  He started reviewing this game and well, what is light and dark again?  If they ever let you add a referal to a already created account Deaths Proxy would be getting mine.
    ^^This.^^

I've been starving for a good MMORPG for a LONG while, like most of the community.  I too, was keeping tabs on Dark & Light, via Death's Proxy, when he shifted gears, and made a video about AoCr (Ashes).

Granted, there was scant footage, with nothing but concepts to to offer, but it immediately kindled a fire withing, long thought extinguished.

I've invested more than my money into this game.  My hopes for the future of mmorpg's and the mmorpg community, are invested as well!
  • My old guild pals from Rift showed interest in this game and posted a link to the kickstarter. Did some research into it before ultimately backing it. Here is hoping it turns out good!
  • Like half of the people here, I found it from TheLazyPeon. It's now the first game I've backed on Kickstarter.
This is 100% the same as my route here. I watched TheLazyPeon's vids on it, and then I decided to make Ashes my first game to back on Kickstarter.
  • CAME ACROSS IT IN REFLECTION OF POOL. NOT LOOK LIKE UMJI.

It's okay Umji, you're beautiful on the inside. Just lay off those cakes.
  • Another hit for MMORPG here. It's usually where I have found all the good ones that I play long term. Been watching here and Kickstarter ever since, amazed at the great response it has received thus far.
  •  Looks like many of us owe LazyPeon thanks for leading us here!  :D
  • I was looking for something to play and found a post about the game on MMORPG.com.

The guy's a great resource and deserves a lot of praise for his vids imo.
  • I've supported other MMO's in early development, which is probably why an AoC video popped up in my YouTube recommended list. Or maybe it was fate! Either way, I'm glad to a part of this along with you wonderful people. I've got a feeling that this is going to be great!
  • On May 27th, I was browsing my newsfeed on the iOS news app.
This article popped up and caught my attention:
    http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/05/25/ashes-of-creation-first-look-an-mmo-that-lets-you-be-the-boss

I shared the link with my guild mates and mentioned something like, "This looks like a game to keep an eye on...."  and it was probably just a matter of hours before I knew that I was going to contribute on Kickstarter. ;)

Agreed!   I enjoy both  Deaths Proxy and LazyPeon's vidoes. They do a great job and it's a good thing they do. They brought us all together and more are on their way I'm sure!
" -------Just hope they don't trip over that bag of bones @Nagash who's scattered all over  the floor."
  • I ve been a follower of The lazy Peon for about 2 years now, I ve been watching his first impressions, Then one day..it was AoC and BAM! here I am.
  • Found out about it on an mmorpg.com article back in early December.  Been soaking up all the info I could get since then.
  • LazyPeon is great. I'm still a little sore at a couple of his previous MMO recommendations though. No names shall BDO mentioned ;)

I have no idea I was just on the internet and it just popped up. I went to the kick starter and the rest is history
My experience was very similar and I jumped on the Kickstarter and there is no looking back now!
  • It was my first time on Kickstarter for a different project. I saw, and even ignored, Ashes of Creation on the recommendations. Then after awhile I watched their intro video and decided to back. Now, I'm obsessed.
  • I found out about it through the gaming community I play with. Though we have our doubts, we still have high hopes for this game and made a pledge of $1000.
  • Discovered this gem early January of this year. Really excited I was able to get in on the kickstarter. My whole guild is looking at this game in hopes it will be something we can all play together.
  • actually a "one does not simply" meme someone posted on facebook
  • I found out about Ashes of Creation through a YouTube video.  I was watching videos on upcoming games because I wanted something new to play, and I saw some footage of Ashes of Creation.  I was hooked instantly  :)
  • I was recently thinking about MMOs and the death of EQNext. Did some googles to see if anything similar was in the works. Found this in one of those horrible click-baity lists.
  • My brother sent a link to me saying 'I want to be a part of this' not I want to get or play but be apart of, that immediately got my attention and here I am
  • Word of mouth, heard from a friend and guild mate a bout a day before the kick starter ended.
