I prefer one that's not on the list, one that is a close knit group of people who love doing the same thing.

But I really do weight the community and culture of a guild more than anything. We could lose ever fight, never down a boss and never control a node but if we have tons of fun together, I'm there with a smile.

It's about the people man, good people.
My thoughts exactly, I would love to hang out with players like you. Can we team up?
To be determined my friend. But we should.
  • Already part of a large guild.

I'll be probably CO-Guild Leader of a Relaxed, Kind, Friendly, Warm hearted guild :)
    We need more of those!

I really don't think size matters.
    ;D ;D ;D

Anyways I like small guilds because I like knowing my guild members as much as possible and I find it so better to bond as friends rather than just a guild member :3 I love my wee guild already xD Having a blast on the hype train ^^

I totally can see your point @Diura. For me it's more to do with playing with likeminded gamers who want the same things I do in their online time, be it raid, PvP or whatever. If I get that in a guild of 20 or 200 then that's fine by me. Ideally it would be a small guild that's very organized and play collectively on a daily basis when we're online together but it's not always easy to find those kind of guilds.
  • like how so many people have picked small guilds like small scale pvp

Maybe you should check out mine :P well not mine we don't have a GM we have a very unique way of working ^^ Well when the time is closer I know you don't want to dive into a guild yet ^^
  • Only thing I'll dive into my dear is a Friday Flagon! hey ho!
  • I'm not really concerned with the size of the guild and my type isn't listed, however I plan on joining or creating a RPPvP guild. Some of the best times I've had in games was participating in a 10v10 or 15v15 against a rival guild.
  • Where is the Hardcore option?  :'(
  • Im gonna start off with a small guild of friends that I am going to bring over to the game, but will eventually expand to a large guild.
  • The members of our group, some of whom have gamed together for 10 or more years, who will be coming to the game is small; thus, you could consider us a "small, close-knit" guild. We will be exploring heavily the world around us, the offerings for crafting, for character and town/node development. We will also be engaging with the RP community in the server we populate, thus that will be a part of our gameplay.

Our strategy is simple. Sit down, have a mug of your favorite ale, and let's figure out what we want to do together. Oh, you wanna go explore? Great! Have you thought about acting as a guard for my caravan? So on and so forth.

We don't work with heavy restrictions regarding what you can/can't do, or what you must/must not do. I suppose our only "can't" and "must not" comes with drama; that's not tolerated. Anything that doesn't promote that's pretty much fair game, within the limits of courtesy and with an attitude of respect to all whom we encounter.

I fully expect that to be derailed at times; we may have more people wanting X activity this week/month, and then more wanting Y activity the next week/month. I suppose that's a benefit of being smaller, and more open, that we're also more fluid, more able to shift gears.

We are hoping to gain like-minded members here, to bolster our numbers, so that's always a consideration for us. But equally a consideration is the community that we build with other guilds within our chosen node/town/etc. For instance, will we have a bazaar? What types of things will the community work toward together? How can we work out alliances with other guilds -- on many fronts. Alliances for when war comes, or we choose to bring war to another guild. Alliances for materials and crafts. Alliances for guards for caravans. Alliances for those of us who wish to take a week and wander the land.

So many possibilities, I really see room for all kinds of guilds with AoC, and that's thrilling. To be small is not equal to being unviable.

  • Good luck with your guild @Isende :)
  • A guild that's nice and does activities
  • A guild that's nice and does activities
    You just described kindergarten.

Oh man, guys, I just had the best idea for a guild... oh man, nap time... juice... STORY TIME!!
  • @Karthos, I did run a guild where we had pizza night and snacks...
  • My preferred guild would be a larger raid/end game focused one.
  • I wonder if i can annex guilds?

I couldn't agree more! That's usually where I end up and love it.  Plenty of time to figure it out.  I'm cautious about who I join.  I hate those blind invites to groups and guilds.  I interview them as well as some interview prospective new members.  :)

I've been in most types of guild and have been co-leader  including in a multiplayer guild.  But there is nothing like a small family type guild with good values.  Nothing like sitting back and letting someone else take on the task of leading either!  That's too much like work and often takes the enjoyment out of the game.

  • There's no 'hype guild' option or other. At launch, there will be tons of people, so many guilds with a large population. Then once the hype dies down, so will the guild size and activity. Eventually, the base population will be established. The best option I can put atm is 'large' but it will end up being a clearly defined guild that will mostly be a pve/life skill style guild built around in game shenanigans that I end up in. I always do.

I agree with Kratz. The size is less important that if they are effective in making my time in the game entertaining. I get the sense that larger cities will have multiple guilds that compete and work together around a central purpose. That is the guild environment that I would like to participate in.
  • I'll be in one that has blackjack...and hookers... In fact, forget the guild  >:)

Not really, i've joined one and will see what it develops into but it will probs turn into a large guild group which i'm fine with aslong as i get along with the guildies fine.
  • In the end it will depend on how many people I can both convince to play and get on the same server. It's been a humorous debacle trying to get friends all on the same server.. when they all have other groups of friends I don't know also playing. Ideally it would be a relatively small friends guild, but if there isn't enough for that I could end up as "Random_Contributor_001" in a large city guild.
  • I was never interested in leading guilds, but my friend is, so I just put the add up for him. I just like having fun with people wherever that be a large guild or a small one as long as I make friends and have fun nothing else matters

I am building a community for Ashes named The Black Tower.

TBT will (eventually) be a large, democratic PvX guild with a laid back but involved attitude that promotes overall guild unity, teamwork and personal improvement.

We are drawing on leadership from some of the most established guilds in WoW (e.g, Ropetown) and GW2 (e.g., Ethereal Guardians), and are very excited to be forming a brand new community that is wholly dedicated to supporting our members in Ashes :)

If you're interested, please check out our official Ashes forum thread here, our guild website here, or our guild discord here.

Thanks all, and whether you would like to play as a member of our community or not, we look forward to playing alongside all of you in game!

I often prefer small guilds (20-30 people) as it truely becomes as a second family. Not necessarily a casual guild, though. I like dedicated players!
  • Hope the large guild will not be infected by toxic players... :)
  • @nagash ABC's lol - always be closing :)
