As it was said previously $15/month has been the standard for many many years now with special discounts for longer subs.
It's also not unusual for a family who games together to buy and sub for each person playing. I'm more then quite sure many wouldn't consider paying more.
I laugh when I hear many crying they want FTP because ultimately they end up spending more then that $15 month.
back to AoC and the $15 sub though, i posted something about this ages ago and wondered why the standard was still $15 when the cost of server hardware and internet services etc had all dropped. If you wanted to nab more WoW players I would think that a $10 sub would entice a lot of them over without making it seem like the game cant support itself (see previous point about reduced hardware costs now).
As I said before, there's a confirmed in-game shop for various dyes, cosmetic items and other stuff. Feel free to spend 35 euros each month there to hit that 50 euro/month mark! Nothing bad in that for anyone.
You'd pay 50 euros a month to play an MMO? I don't even pay $50 a month on groceries.
I'm all for a non-P2W cash shop and a monthly subscription of $10-15. I will spend if I think it is worth it, and I think this model will be better for the game, better for the business and will maximise revenue.
The only reason why a higher monthly subscription will work for me is that I pledged a Braver of Worlds and a higher monthly subscription might inflate its price.
It could have been cheaper to attract more players, but Intrepid has to ensure the financial viability of the the game to ensure it's ability to run. I'd much prefer a subscription based system than otherwise where the survival of the game is at the whims and fancy of a few High paying players.
This is kinda the sweet spot as some have already stated. It's not about the total worth it's about accessibility for the general populations. Higher price = narrower market as less people will be able or willing to afford it. Like others here I'm also a Braver but I scrounged up some extra spending cash because that lifetime sub was to good to pass up on.
Pretty much comes down to this for me. If it's a good game considering the sub model I'd probably play it for several years. At the point of roughly 2.7years in I'd of gotten my monies worth outta it. Anything after that is gravy because I never have to pay a sub again.
The catch is well, I'm out that cash if it turns out I don't like it lol. Sacrifices.
Thank you for participating and congratulations.
There is an extended crowdfunding round to cater to the European fans who do not have a credit card, but it is open to all. It is believe that the lifetime subscription should be available then.
It should start within the next couple of weeks.
Best not to speculate since this is a relatively sensitive topic and just find out when the June crowdfund kicks off.
But to have $30 available a month?
I don't believe you're an idiot, so feel a little ashamed that name calling addressed to yourself should have arisen in this thread, I just believe that you may still be of the age that believes that life is easy and everything is yours for the taking if you just try hard.
Sadly life isn't easy, so $30 a month isn't necessarily available to a significant proportion of the global population. - And as someone has pointed out, you have to consider the global population, places where the daily wage is a lot lower than where you might come from.
For instance personally:
I don't live in the US.
I am unable to work because of the chemical changes that have fecked up my emotions because of brain damage... then there's my other cognitive and physical issues, then there's fatigue that means I sleep for about 16 hours a day....
My viking works, however we still are teetering on edge of more going out each month than in... and I'm not exactly a teenager any more.
I personally had a few funds available from a house sale that I had been keeping to get lots of tattoos, but after finding this game I had to invest it....but that's having to give up on the dream of ever getting tattoo's unless something miraculous happens with my life. . . . *Hoping for a lottery win here, or to get discovered as a story writer, or some other successful self employment*
A small price increase over $15 a month might be natural over time, or even at launch in two years time, however to double the speculated cost even before anyone has had a chance to get addicted to the game is a little bit of a foolish as it would have much the reverse impact as you would hope.
With much love and hugs to all the community, keeping it positive,
Megs x
