  • I hope we can advance in our crafting without having to adventure with that character
Me too, that's actually one of my primary hopes. I really want my crafters to be in and of that community, completely locked in to their business except for when it comes time to transport things to other communities. I want them hawking their wares, checking out the competition, all that good merchanty/craftery stuff!

Yes, I agree. But imagine there's a dragon that guards a secret forge, you may not gain access to that forge until said dragon is slain. I think a healthy balance between the two would be the most efficient way to train.
Easiest "fix" is to have your gatherers also your adventurers, while your Artisan crafters are just crafters. That's how I'm envisioning things, atm, anyway.

I see it this way if done right you will be reliant on the adventurers like me. Not so much your own level of adventuring even though technically if your a traveler or trader your an adventurer to a degree. Getting rare ingredients will require those idiots (LIKE ME =D) who will dive into a dragon infested cave with a toothpick.

Still I'd like to see it majorly split but with some grey area or a middle ground where you can do them a bit together. As I like to multi facet from the start and keep say blacksmithing on par with the gear I need.
There is a "middle" ground, in that if you choose to pursue, say, both Crafting and Adventuring, you'll be able to get "good" at both of them but "REALLY good" at neither.
  • From watching the videos I do not think your Adventuring role will take away from your ability to be great in your Artesian role at all.  You can be a great Adventurer and a great Artesian. The limit is you can only be great at one of the specific Artesian roles such as Gathering, Refining, and then Assembly. Steven referenced the trinity system for crafting but I can not recall the three he used I just put the general idea of each down. His example said that you could be good at all three or great at one. This leads me to believe that Adventureing roll will not affect your Artesian role at all other then possibly time and effort on one taking away from the other but eventually you can be "great" at both if you put the time in. But only great at one of the three Artesian roles. Hope that makes sense...may not be correct but I hope I explained my point correctly. If not, I am sure a better wordsmith will clarify!
