What is your MMO longevity?

  • Still playing LOTRO and they just had their 10 year anniversary.  I don't see it finishing any time soon.  I checked out WoW last summer and while all my old characters were still there and still intact, the dumbing down of abilities and skills was so ridiculous I used the trial and didn't bother with anything else.

I can see myself playing Ashes for 10+ years too.
  • I wish it weren't WoW. Sadly it is...
I'm having a hard time coming up with my second longest MMO run. I suppose it'll have to be a tie between Wakfu and ESO, my current (temporary) MMO home, with just under a year for both.

Picked the 9-10 years because that's how long i have been with Lineage2 which i really used to enjoy to play, but i left that game, due to heavy pay2win and also the community thinned a lot.
I wasn't able to find another mmo i would enjoy as much as L2 so far, so after leaving L2 i am not able to stick to a mmo for more then 2 years.
We have spoken before about this, but I agree with you. We were basically playin L2 the same time and got fed up at the same time. @Lucie
  • Haha, everyone has such solid games and im here playing Flyff for 4 years non stop then on an off for 2 more. XD

Lol for 5 years but not sure if that counts?

Gw foe a little under a year, wow for less. XD
  • Lineage and then Lineage 2. Hard to say which one i liked more
  • 3 plus years in Everquest, & DAOC.  2.5 years seems to be my average in most games I really like.  I'm usually the last of my friends to leave a game.  I found that going back to a game is never the same either.
  • I've been playing wow since I was 9. I'm 20 now. Got me hooked for 11 years

    @Tarlach check your pm's :)
  • Eq2 and wow...
Me too! So many good memories.
  • I'm not sure, I played WoW on and off like 4 or 5 years and Eve Online about the same time I think.
  • I always have breaks but have played MMO's most my adult life. Hence why I am so excited for this game as most MMO's today are a let down.
  • In my experience since there are good or just plain average mmo's I play in the past it's just only a short time until I got bored and firnd something else.
  • (Well, Elder Scrolls player since finding 'Morrowind' in 2002). But MMO = Started at Beta with ESO and still play - but hardly touched the MMO side of their play. Maybe just 3 or 4 months of that time in ESO, put together, would be  my 'actual MMO' experience in Cyrodiil etc...
But 'technically,' I guess with ESO, I can claim 3 or 4 years in an MMO?
(I find myself wanting to be involved with the community/MMO side of things here in AoC than any previous game, actually, and have hardly played on ESO since finding you...)
  • Everquest
Your total time entitled on this account is approximately 15 years, 297 days.

  • WoW for two years until TBC a few months in.

ArcheAge couldn't keep me in with the shit it's been having. I kept coming back, but no more. AoC seems to have what I want and should hold my attention for longer.

First MMO was Runescape, left that to go play WOW have been there ever since, but no longer hardcore only casual and well lets face it, wow has become bland and quite stale over the last few expacs.

    Honorable Mentions
WildStar - Favorite of this list
    SWTOR
    GW2
    ESO
    BDO
    FFXIV

Currently playing heavily in ArcheAge, the deep crafting system in wonderful.

Praying to MMO gods that Ashes of Creation makes it to launch and is a wonderful game, from what is promised I have high hopes and faith that this project will be epic
  • DAoC for several years till EQ2 launched and have been there ever since with some breaks for many other games.  What ruins games for me are RMT (real money transactions)  I fought the idea when it was first presented, and I was correct and in how it would progress (unfortunately).
  • in recent years? bout 30 days lol, back in the day? 4 to 5 yrs...then back and forth till the game is just to dated to enjoy.
  • Original Everquest. Started losing interest shortly after Sony bought it out but stuck around long after that because of the friends I had made and the guild needed me.
  • Tibia - 2005
  • Only 5-6 years, which was WoW. However... i have alot of dedication and commitment so IF there is a game that can last 50 years while still keeping the game fresh with content... you will find me there still after 50 years
  • I usually MMO hop, but at least play for 1-3 years depending on what happens to the game. Hopefully after Bless Online, I will be with Ashes for awhile.
  • I've always solo played every mmo ive got my hands on but i really want to change that and be part of a community for once. So hopefully i can get over 5 years of playtime with this game and with some online friends.

  • Still putting a few hours a week into WoW. All the other MMOs I've played I only stayed on for 5-6 months

  • WoW (mostly RP towards the end)

Wakfu for 2 years, it managed to have gameplay that was at least different from other MMOs and the classes were fantastically diverse. I even managed to figure out how to use the Xelor really well haha. Took a break, then came back when it came onto Steam. Maskmen were fun af

I didn't get bored of it, life took over and I just never logged back into my account
  • While this is the longest I have played one MMO, for the right game it could be far longer. I do hope AOC will be that right game, time will tell.
  • 7 Years of Vanguard SOH, few years EQ/LOTRO on and off.
Now 4th year into Archeage, trying to prove F2P can matter in that game (but failing for now)
  • on and off i have played some stuff for 10 years... eq i loaded up again the other day :)
but EQ for 3 years, DAoC for about 3 years, WoW for 5 or so, Rift for a good 3 or so. Hard to keep track exactly.
