Sewer Systems

It's been clarified by Steven that sewer system will be an in game experience! 


This is great news! Now to ponder on which type of node the sewer system will be located in, I have my money placed on the Scientific nodes, hopefully that wont be it!

I'm also wondering if Quests will be taken place down there, perhaps the slums of some nodes will be down there? Or the black market even. That'd be cool!


I can imagine a hidden lair in one of the sewers along the lines of this

and the map could potentially look like this? Though I would like maps to be undiscovered, especially for areas like this.

There could also potentially be sewers monsters as well, or mobs.

There is so much potential involving sewers, and I'm sure nobody wants to pee in a bucket and toss it out the window, imagine how unsanitary Ashes would be then.

    I think a science metropolis will have sewers like you said. I'm think that maybe a Religious metropolis would have an underground crypt instead?? That would be cool. But sewers would indeed be cool. Especially if they could be used in Castle sieges or maybe a NPC invasion from the sewers!

    I was thinking Economic nodes might use tunnels for black market and smuggling.
    Hadn't thought about racial architecture...fascinating to think about Underrealm sewers. :p

    It could! But to me it seems like the scientific node would have more of an advantage as opposed to a militaristic node. 

    I don't think I'd necessarily want to see elves have a sewer system instead of humans or dwarves, because they all have the same intellect you know? 

    At least in my opinion, no race has ever necessarily been dumb... orcs are the stereotypical "idiots" and I really hope Ashes proves that wrong!

    Wouldn't that be exciting? AND MAYBE LIKE A MILITARISTIC NODE COULD HAVE A FIGHT CLUB! HAHA, WE'RE ONTO SOMETHING HERE. 

    So far we have the scientific node which has the sewer systems: Image result for fantasy sewers

    I don't see the sewers as being a sign of intelligence in a mmo - more of an environmental characteristic which might be more suitable for Tulnar as a race or as @Dygz said an economic node for "underground" trade xD

    The symbolism of a sewer in an mmo is more imaginable than its practical purpose xD

    Never thought about variations based on node type chosen. The would open a lot of interesting possibilities and would encourage cities to be different from others so we can experience those variations.

    I would love if all nodes had a sewers system, but the Underground fight club, and black market, and crypts! I wouldn't mind not having a sewer system to get my hands on those.

    Especially if you're playing a thief type character, you could go down to the black market and sell all your stolen goods! 

    That's where I'd hope the "thieves den" would be located.

    Indeed they are! But if one node is more advanced based on a certain race population that would imply that-that race has a superior intellect in some aspects. And nobody wants to feel inferior, so I'd add all the other things: brawling den, black market, crypts, sewers" you know? something that could make each node exciting for everyone.

    I would love if all nodes had a sewers system, but the Underground fight club, and black market, and crypts! I wouldn't mind not having a sewer system to get my hands on those. 
    Underground fight club sounds awesome :) will be a nice take on PvP arena especially for those "elitests" if they want to play some cheeky against the rules type of arenas ^^

    @Zastro That's exactly true! That's why I would like to have a compromise of having the other nodes have these key things as well. Scientific nodes can have fun with their poop palace, I'll have fun with my black market!

    Ouch! Wouldn't want to live in that node if I was the type of person to muff up a lot.

    Maybe since the Tulnar have spent so many years underground, a city built by them could have underground housing?
