Should /ignore be character or account?

No reason to not have it be account wide.   Why allow the troll to just hop on another name and harass you some more?  Ignore should be the entire account.

I assumed these were in reference to unblocking someone.. What was your definition of them then if that's not what they meant?

He said unblocking was an option, not that he would do it. I think you were referring to why would it be an option to block the account if you were to unblock them later as a general response for everyone.

I don't often agree with @Gothix but I think he has made several valuable points.

Why would you have to block the same player every time they created an alt and harassed you as opposed to blocking the account?

If, reviewing your blocked accounts later, you decide you don't remember why an account was blocked then you should be able to unblock it. If at that point in time you run into the same character, or an alt, and hit it off that's awesome.

If they go right back to harassing you, then block the account again.

I am in favor of an option for both, sometimes you just don't like the player and sometimes the character is a dick.

I like this idea. Sometimes I may want to just snooze someone, but if I really block someone I want it to be account wide. I've dealt with people alt-hopping to continue their issue and it's annoying.

The ignore should be used if you just don't want to talk to somebody (for whatever reason - e.g. got into an argument).
Therefore, there should also be an option to whitelist a character again.

Some people here might misuse an /ignore, when it actually should be a /report.
Harassment in online games shouldn't be taken lightly by "ignoring" the issue. The issue will just search for the next "target".

Reporting should be an option as well, but that doesn't resolve the issue of someone wanting to argue. They can alt-hop and continue. I also shouldn't need to report someone to ignore them and every character they're on. It's not always a report worthy offense or I may not want to engage at that level. Allowing players to alt-hop to continue their tirade is more annoying and fills up the ignore list.

I don't really ignore players easily. It takes a lot for me to do so. I'm easily annoyed but not easily ticked off. I'm probably one of the most patient people you'll ever meet haha.

But if the option was available and it came down to choosing, I'd like to have both options. 

As said, account blocking is convenient for constant harassment of players as well as bots flooding the chat.

Also said is character blocking. It is convenient for ignoring players atleast temporarily as others have said. There's always those players who'll take the game a little too seriously and go on a rampage in the chat. Or just the usual annoying people ruining the chat for you.

Either way, I'm willing to work with them.
