Legendary items?
Whenever I read on the topic of legendary items it always comes up to weapons/armor..
Ashes can do so much more with legendary items like potions, pets, spells, curses, etc.. for example:
Pet - exotic rare house/battle pet only you will have no brainer.
Potion - keen sense that you're able to track the sourse of any material or able to see stealth people for couple of days.
- - eye drops that allows you to see an unique rare animals for couple of days/weeks that you can take the special meat and create a legendary feast that you can share with your group/raid that has extraordinary buffs or sell it at your tavern making it the hot sport for this amazing dish.
Scroll/Book Spell - uncuruptable for 1 hour allowing you to PvP till your heart's content.
Scroll/Book Curses - written in the ancient demonic language that can cause anything to any node like plagues that an destroy crops/plantation and even special herbs in that node for weeks or enraged wild life making each critter/monster in that node hostile with higher agro range.
What would you guys like to see as a legendary item other than weapons and armor?

Already planned...for the 25 people who dropped 5k or more.
"Work with the Devs to design a monster for Ashes of Creation and receive a version of that monster as an exclusive pet!*** "
I think this gives a hint at what sort of exotic and epic items we will be able to find in ashes but don't hold your breath expecting them to show up in the first few weeks, it may take years to uncover some hidden secrets or they may never come to light at all.
The only example you gave that I would be against was the anti-corruption effect.
If you take up Animal Husbandry you might be able to make yourself a unique/rare house or battle pet! I wouldn't be able to speak for any legendary abilities it might have though.
I'd hope that Intrepid wouldn't be as boring as to ignore everything outside of weapons etc but who knows eh?
Lets have intriguing unique artefacts, almost impossible to locate / obtain with TRUELY legendary results. You dont need lots of them
So GO crazy, if something legendary has made you work for it, in my mind it shoukd be something epic to view.... so not just two fish, have a whole school!
ISSUE:
3. Item are seperated in rarity: common, uncommon, rare: epic, lengendary, divine, etc.. ( Sure a player should feel good about him/herself for finding a great weapon that is also rare. However, such interputation of feelings should be left to the player himself, he should be the judge of his own equipment. So I found a really great bow on a skeleten, it is highly effective in combat for me. But i dont want to use it because it is only an uncommon item. My Epic crossbow perviously looks so much better on me even tho it is inferior in combat. So i rather use my Epic crossbow, simply because it is an epic item, i generally feel better with an epic weapon equiped.
A player should be able to feel good about his own choice in equipment rather than a game designer telling him how he should feel about his own equipment. Whether an item is rare or not is solely base on supply and demand and to some degree in each player's sentiment towards it. An item that is rare for me may not be so for someone whos level is thirty above me, perhaps for him it is garbage because he has tons of it and they never get used.
So as a player, am i to believe an item is rare because it is labled as is?, or because it is a junk item simply because i am told it is junk? Item rarity almost never serve as the sole benefactor of an item's effectivness and quality in any video game. So when all things considered, is this labal really needed in Ashes of Creation? Or have we, as player, got too lazy to figure out our own inventory that we left it to the developer to decide for us?
The point is, If you think you got a great piece of item. you will treasure it. If you dont treasure it, it should be your fault for losing it. The game shouldn't need to tell you that an item is a rare, or it is a legendary, unless you are too stupid to figure that out yourself, in that case play smarter. Having the opportunity to judge an item's quality yourself is also what makes you wants to play a game. Game designer put rarity label on an items was one of the wrose thing ever happened to the gaming industry.
I rather not have one and know it has value, than have 5 and they have no value.
In WoW people have realized this too, legendary item has no value or meaning anymore, it used to feel amazing and cool when got one, you knew you were worth it. Good old days.
This is one of those things that AoC has to think carefully, since either they want to go with newschool gaming which is easy and massively overrewarding, or oldschool where only dedicated ones got stuff, just like in life. I'm sure there is ways other than raids to make this happen, I'm just not creative enough to think one.
Player that has one should not be able to destroy it or put it in bank. He could only carry it on him, either in his hands or in backpack. Legendary weapon should have a chance to drop regardless if player that owns it is corrupted or no.
First axes would be obtained by difficult achievements. First players that succeed in those achievements would get those axes. After that, axes would be obtainable only by killing players that own them.
Of course it would be secret which achievements are needed to get first axes, it should come as a surprise. And also, axes are only an example here. This would be valid for any legendary item.
I can see the idea of limited amount of X weapons, but I also believe your idea would invite grievers to gank the guy whose completed "difficult achievements". I can't see people enjoying a game where they worked for 3 hours to accomplish the final stage of something, got a legendary sword only to walk out of the cave and get ganked by 3 bums who happen to be passing.
I think owning a legendary weapon should be more permanent than that. What if they could be won through duels? Or some arena gauntlet? At least then the owner would consent? And the challenger would have the option to win it off them?
Perhaps that it's not the weapon that gets legendary stats but the player character. So the legendary stats apply to the character rather than the weapon and you may lose that status pending certain actions in your node/arena etc.
It'll be interesting to see how they implement it.
I think I'd love the ideas of legendary items that are soul bound, that return like Thors hammer, but if you end up with one you dont want, it could be there's an npc that you can trade it with...
Also:
1. No one would know who currently has legendary weapon unless they met them in world and saw them actually using it.
2. It would be a chance to drop, not an instant drop.
3. Legendary weapons should be nice to have, but also a risk to it's owner. It's completely logical then when someone has something valuable, there are those that will want to steal it.
You can't have everything "safe". Verra isn't and it shouldn't be a "safe world".
People should seriously stop using words "consent" and "consensual". Ashes is not meant to be "kids in kinder garden learning to play together", but a conflict based MMO with dangerous world where most of people are out there to get you.
People should seriously stop using words like "kids" and "kinder garden" when disputing points made in a forum of discussion. Ashes is not meant to be a gank box/murder box, but a MMO with meaningful conflict that doesn't reward pk'ing. If you don't believe me I can find you the quote.
Stealing legendary weapon is meaningful conflict.
And then game gets even more players playing. Some care bears will be lost sure, but they will end up switching back to Farmville in 2 months anyway, regardless of this.
