    Then we agree on the important points. I, personally, am not bent about giving out Arena to everyone. Clearly I'm still on the Ashes hype train. I'm surely not an elitist or something who wants to keep everyone out of the testing except himself. I got enough of a taste of what that is like from how they did Alpha 0. It's not fun.

    The only point I want to be the takeaway from the thread is "exclusive means exclusive."

    I would have written it much differently if I had a do over. But, it is what it is.

    That explains the referral system that was set up.  That’s classic pyramid scheme tactics.

    Not that AoC is a pyramid scheme itself though, because those are money-making endeavors where you make money from people making money from people making money from people without focusing on actually providing a good product to anyone.  AoC looks like a great game, so whatever MLM background is baked into it, I don’t really care.  If I get an awesome MMO experience nothing else matters.

    I have given my reason several times. It is simply that exclusivity is key to their business model, mainly in the shop, and if this sort of thing happens often it will have people not wanting to invest in those exclusive items.

    Some have said no exclusivity was stated. This is true, but the SPIRIT of what we were being told and heard gave all indications there was. More importantly, it isn't about convincing people if exclusivity was actually violated, but ensuring that going forward nobody even has cause to wonder if it was at all.
    Lol there is no "spirit" about it.. There was, and is, no intention of making Alpha 1 exclusive. They are a business, they will sell whatever they can, where ever they can. 

    I assume your gripe is; you're offended that something was offered separately out of a pack that contained an exclusive item..?

    Personally I don't care all too much about whether or not other people will get to test the game. We're not there to play after all and exclusivity shouldn't play that big of a part in testing.

    If Intrepid are under the impression that doing testing in A1 requires more people, then let them invite them. After all this is not the end product and we would want it to be the best it can be.

    Yes, it was marked CLOSED.
    The original Alpha 1, which is now Alpha 1 Phase 2, which is still CLOSED.

    It is now OPEN, partly correct.
    The bonus phase, Alpha 1 Phase 1, will be open eventually, but this part was never part of the CLOSED part.

    So, what was marked as CLOSED is still CLOSED.
    What is marked as OPEN is the bonus part that was not part of CLOSED but only shares the same name "Alpha 1".

    So for me, a person with Aspergers
    All I am seeing is:
    "They named the bonus Alpha 1 (Phase 1), therefore it should go under the same rules as the original Alpha 1 (Phase 2).
    You are literally complaining about choice in name.

    vis-a-vis You are still getting exclusive access alongside 'no one else but backers of the same tier'. You are correct in saying you dont have 100% exclusive access to 100% of the time period. But for 75% of the time that tier does indeed have 100% exclusive access.

    It depends how you word smith exclusivity. A period of time in a testing phase that excludes everyone else or permanent exclusion of everyone for the whole phase accept the associated tier.
    In which case Intrepid could argue they were now going to introduce 'intermediate' phases for stress testing. ie Gaps between Alpha 0, Alpha 1 Phase1, Alpha 1 Phase 2 ...etc

    I don't know about you but the arena times were cut down by a lot after that move. The developers got more data and performance wasn't hindered by the influx of new players. I bought the Intrepid pack and honestly whatever gets this game out faster makes me happy. I don't think anyone bought the 500$ pack for the value. Every bit news and videos when the packs were released pointed out the 250$ one had more bang for your buck. I mostly bought it because i was super excited for the game and wanted in asap. Having more people testing it only makes it more fun and hopefully gets the finish product delivered faster. Id rather play the finished game than BR anyway.

    This continues to be a negative detractor for the community.

    Alpha 1 Phase 1 wasn't even a thing until they separated Alpha 1 into two phases, 1 to test combat, castle siege and mob AI.

    They could just have easily using the A0 testers for the initial wave of testing.   

    That said, you are going to get exactly what you paid for.  If you didn't understand what you were getting, that's on the buyer.

    Thank you for your detailed analysis and frank openness in helping explaining CLEARLY what the actual problem is.   I am pretty fair and will give Gigabear the benefit of the doubt, but, maybe the opener of the thread, could give a solution along with the perceived problem?
