AoC vs Fortnite
in Ashes we can see Mages holding books in their right hand while casting. This reminds me so much of Fortnite- the game I hate. Wouldn't it be better if mages had some kind of magic orbiting their hands instead of holding this book (like in Black Desert Online, for example)? That's my honest opinion. Cheers!

I have seen recent videos of the player going from a Wand to a Sword or a Bow to Mace etc....I dont think a Mage will be bound to only use the book.
Anyone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I haven't been following the AoC news for a while, but I a slowly getting back on track
Here's AoC latest gameplay video and you can notice how they switch between weapons during combat.

I came here expecting a discussion about Ashes' Battle Royale mode vs Fortinite.
Instead, it's a rant about OP not liking mages to hold spellbooks while casting.
While MMORPGs are fantasy worlds in which anything is possible, some realism is appreciated. I find it more logical for magic users to get their spells from spellbooks instead of being chosen by nature to have the ability to cast magic as they please.

to the guys above, OPs entitled to their opinion. And it wasn’t really a “rant” was it.
If I was going to play a mage I'd prefer the book to a staff. I understand what you're saying but I just don't feel the same. There'll be enough diversity in this game that folks will be able to customise accordingly.
@Kumary Welcome back! Good to see you
*Finds no books*
No books in Fortnite + Books in AoC = Fortnite is NOT AoC #confirmed.
*loudly announces to the room*
It's 2:33 AM and I find myself here... not because I have anything important to add to this topic... but because the title was so ridiculous I just had to know what the comparison was... still lost... continuing on now... good luck with this one...
* Sips his coffee and slowly backs out of the room*
I think Orbs are also weapons.
I don't know why spellbooks remind anyone of Fortnite.
Nor why it's a problem if they do remind someone of Fortnite.
Maybe ill toss a library card on your corpse for you to use in the afterlife. Or after-afterlife in some cases.
They probably think Tolkien stole Sauron from WoW too.
I understand what you mean - its one of the things that really messes with my brain, i hate it ... but i really think its solely based on the Camera angle
i.e. Camera angle give vibes from WarFrame and/or Fortnite ... but ....
- whats shown in Alpha 1 Phase 1 is NOT final i.e. Testing Phases
- Alpha 1 Phase 1 is solely PvP
- Maybe its trying to mirror the " trend " purposely trying to attract more players
- Fortnite is trash
So whatever, I'll just hold off my full opinion until after i login for the 1st time
