Can't determine a build without knowing what attributes and stat modifiers we have to work with on gear. I hope it's not boring and over simplified like FFXIV.

but based on classes alone I wouldn't mind the Cleric/Rouge (Shadow Disciple) Class for both solo and PvP play. maybe there's a good racial bonus to go with that setup

    Class: Bladedancer (Fighter/Bard)
    Race: Ren'Kai, or Py'Rai
Weapon: Dual wield ~ Sword / Dagger
    Armor: Medium
Play style: Mele damage dealer with solid crowd control and evasion that doesn't require positioning like a Rogue.

    Race: Vek, or Ren' Kai
    Weapon: Sword and Shield
    Armor: Heavy
Play style: Crowd control tank with group buffs

    Class: Shaman (Cleric/Summoner)
    Race: Vek, or Py'Rai
Weapon: Staff....aka Beat Stick or Book... Scrolls would look sick

    Class: Shadow Disciple (Cleric/Rogue)
    Race: Vek, Vaelune, Tulnar
Weapon: Book, Staff, Wand, sword, flail......
    Armor: light, some leather... medium-ish
Play style: Peel your F@(#!^& face off and suck out your SOUUUUUULLLL.... Maybe give some of it to my friends so that they can feed me more souls!! MUAHahaHAHAhahAHAhaHhAaaaaaaaa

    Class: Dreadnought (Fighter/Tank)
    Race: Aela (Human)
    Weapon: Greatsword
Armor: Heavy (The biggest and baddest looking plate I can get)
Play style: Brawler playstyle. Take a beating and give one out. To be the first in and last out (alive hopefully).

    Class: Weaponmaster (Fighter/Fighter)
    Race: Pyrian (Elves)
    Weapon: Halberd/bow
    Armor: Medium (Chain/Scale)
Play style: An agile fighter engaging from afar with my bow if needed and using my halberd to impale my foes from a distance.

    Class: Necromancer (Summoner/Cleric)
Race: Tulnar (whatever looks the scariest)
    Weapon: Whip/Flail + Shield
    Armor: Medium (Chain/Scale)
Play style: Like a reaver from DAoC using dark or blood magic to buff my defense and offensive capabilities as I engage my targets in melee and using DoTs to damage or siphon their lifeforce for my own.

    Class: Duelist (Rogue/Fighter)
    Race: Aela
    Weapon: Dual Swords
    Armor: Medium (Chain/Scale)
Play style: Using stealth to get in close but relying on my skill with the blade and wit to take down my targets.

    Class: Assassin (Rogue/Rogue)
    Race: Pyrian (Elves)
    Weapon: Rapier/Dagger/Crossbow
    Armor: Light (Leather)
Play style: Get in, kill my key target and get out. Finish off from afar with crossbow as needed.

    Class: High Priest/Templar/Apostle (Cleric/Cleric/Fighter/Tank)
    Race: Dunzenkell (Dwarves)
Weapon: Mace + Shield (Cleric)/ Maul or Hammer (Templar)/ Warhammer + Shield (Apostle)
Armor: Medium (Chain - Cleric)/Heavy (Plate - Templar or Apostle)
Play style: As a High Priest, my role would be to buff, cure and heal my allies to insure victory. As a Templar, I would fight alongside my allies providing buffs and light healing as I cave in my enemies' skulls. As an Apostle I would defend my more vulnerable allies assisting with buffing, curing and healing my allies while carrying a righteous warhammer in the name of Moradin, or I'm a bearded gnome!

I honestly hope I can find either a healthy median between all those classes or they allow us to later change our primary class as well. Going to try and limit my characters to two, maybe three tops. I was lucky in ArcheAge to find that heavy bruiser that if played correctly didn't get destroyed by the meta melee classes or the meta caster classes. I just couldn't heal :disappointed:

Oh man, I hear ya... I HOPE that "Meta" builds aren't as prevalent in Ashes, and off the wall unique playstyles will actually be good..... /sigh... But I know that isn't possible... there will always be superior builds

I want to try going for a Summoner/Mage Combo, called Spellmancer.

Anyone going to try a pure class/class combination? After my main interest I may try a dwarf cleric/cleric with double hammers..

Yep, I am probably going to go Summoner/Summoner. My goal is to eventually be able to summon massive monsters.

That is the one thing I am hoping for since those two classes are my most played characters in any video game I ever played.

    I'm plotting a Bard/Rogue (Trickster).

Without knowing how everything works, my goal will be a high Support/DPS build that focuses on magnifying the DPS of the group.

Also looking into Mage types. I enjoy spell blade types, but I think I'll be in a more supportive mood by the time AoC hits release.
  • KovrmKovrm Member, Alpha Two
Necromancer is what I'm wanting to do first. Depends on how summoning minions will work.

Other ones I'm wanting to try Shadow Lord and possibly Falconer.

Didnt they mention that there would be social guild based augments? Thiefs guild augments for stealth etc? It would be cool if there was a runesmith guild!

There are Social Organization augments, yes.
  • I'll try both nightshield and shadow guardian.
With a shield+one hand axe or dagger.
    Medium or heavy armour.
Hoping one of those class will allow me to do some rogue work in the enemy line and teleport through shadow to a ally one who I had previously marked giving us some resistance buff.
I'll focus to be the perfect aggressive bodyguard!
  • AntVictusAntVictus Member, Alpha One, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
Won't really be able to tell until we get more info on augments.
  • StreetCornerPoetStreetCornerPoet Member, Alpha Two
    I'll have 2 characters

    1) Tank something. My spouse and I typically duo tank and healer when playing an MMO together.

    2) Bard/Rogue or Bard/Tank has my interest, but whatever combo allows me to play a non-heal based support, perferably a heavy debuffer/mezzer because I like control type classes if I'm not playing a tank.
I loved playing Controllers in City of Heroes.

Fighter / Fighter. See how many weapons can be mastered by 1 character. Artisan class, you guessed it, weaponsmith.

Just shortened it. It looked weird in the 'Like' lists.

Still on the necromancer / undead bandwagon. I was tempted to change it to Arkhan or Khetep. But @Nagash might not have liked that... Wouldn't want to annoy the skelepope.
