Thats what being Tulnar is all about, survival of the fittest. The strongest get to procreate, those that die were not strong enough!

The dead do not squabble as this land’s rulers do. The dead have no desires, petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace

The dead are a finite resource, no procreation means no warriors as replacement! :D

  • I'm pretty much standard. First elves then humans, if the male ones look good better yet.

Not surprised to see so many pointy ears, but I've really dig the ren'kai concept art. Specifically the architecture.

I want to play tank but I want to be very atypical so I’m planning to go Empyrean. People don’t usually think “elf” when they think “tank”.

I love being a weird tank. I played a Hobbit Guardian in Lord of the Rings Online, and Gnome Warrior in World of Warcraft.

  • I'm really hoping Ren'Kai make up more population then this pole suggests. I would really like to see the architecture as their node progresses in a scientific or economic way, it seems very feudalistic and I imagine would look really great near forest, a mountain edge, or hill land.

Haven't really ever considered playing ork, but depending on how it looks when we get a character creator I'd have to say not having Orks and other races at odds with each other is a bit refreshing. Did enjoy the heck out of them in Dawn of War though! (Let's Make it Orky!)
  • Just keep in mind that the majority of players who are going to play probably don't even know about the game yet.

wow the elves (both types) did very well in this poll. I didn't expect that well.

Not surprised about the tulnar. But what is drawing people to the elfs?

My main will be Vaelune. The class design is shaping into something that seems convoluted (which I would absolutely love) and as someone who doesn't optimize too hard the choice of race might be smothered by the myriad of choices we have to shape our character. I feel Vaelune will fit thematically with the class/character I have in mind.

Excellent question WildPancakes, what is drawing so much hype towards the two elf races. My initial instinct is to blame the devs for highlighting them too much but I don't think that is the case actually. Because the opposite is happening with the Dwarf Niküa, they have gotten alot of video time yet are the least popular. We have seen what some elven buildings look like in a city node so that helped to hype them up.

    @wildpancakes875

I usually play elves because I like their aesthetics. I don't like playing humans in fantasy games because I'm human in RL and it just doesn't seem as fun or exciting in a world with magic and dragons etc. While elves are only slightly different (usually) in appearance with the ears or more lean features it's just enough to feel pique my interests but not so different as to be unattractive/unappealing like Orcs or trolls are (for me). I also tend to favor their lore more too, particularly the wood elf tropes.

I love this poll. From a lore perspective, it's intriguing to see the humans the once most populous being at the bottom of the barrel almost.

Elves have always been the most popular fantasy race, it's probably because they generally are depicted as very graceful and beautiful. But, the numbers in other MMO's always have an overwhelming amount of Elf players. In 2019, 25% of all WoW characters were Elves in one form or another, and Blood Elves even beat out humans in numbers.

So we need more fan art of beautiful dwarves and Tulnar! I for one like a short girl 6 out of 7 days of the week!

Impossible to tell yet for me.

As far as I'm concerned, we basically just have the names of the races and some backstory. We haven't really seen what they actually look in the game, like actually in the game when the game is finished or near finished. Tulnar especially is a mystery.

When I look at it, Tulnar is the type of race that could be really cool, or fall short for me. One of the Orc's would probably be the ones I'm most interested in right now, but honestly any of the races could be cool to play except maybe Human which I find boring.

That's not taking into account actual pros and cons with the races, and that's a whole other thing to consider.

EDIT: Oh, and I base my race on what class I will play, and same thing there, we just don't know enough for me to remotely know what class I will go.

I'm planning to main Tulnar but honestly I'm interested in basically anything that isn't human as well. I think there's a lot of potential in the other races and will likely have alts on each!
  • If I was an edgy 15 year old like when I started playing WoW back in 2006, I'd pick anything but a boring Human.

Now I'd only pick a boring Human, because I somehow identify with them the most... for whatever reason.
  • loghanloghan Member, Alpha Two
@tianlansha Yeah the human race looks great, the human female especially for some reason always gets my attention, even more than the Tulnar female race. If I could mad science create some races into Real Life, i'd probably pick Female Tulnar and Female Human. Top two Verra races by far!
  • Probably Tulnar (And only Tulnar). I just see Lizard-looking people and that excites me.
  • Likely depends on the racial bonus' that each race gives. However, I'm liking the visuals on the Py'Rai so far.
  • I'm looking into the Elf for magic based classes, and the Tulnar for the Melee Based ones. I like the lizard/dragonkind idea for brutal fighters.
