It's going to be like the Oklahoma Land Rush, of 1889,

This is my concern. Although there may be enough housing for everyone, I'm worried the rush to grab specific land plots will leave those not able to play in the first hours (or even days/weeks) having to search far and wide for any kind of plot to claim. (how have other games handled this?)
  • @TheGoodzilla You know how the Sooners settled disputes? Yup, AoC style.

@TheGoodzilla perhaps you'll want to take part in the "red march event" and prevent the rush of land grabbers >:)
  • Instant Corruption. Because why not? :)

    Edit: JK just btw

Why a joke? You know there is going to be someone out there who will, even it's to say I was the first to gain corruption. Some people just like playing on that side of the fence.

Housing is based on node size, and can be increased by the mayor.

I'm not 💯 sure on how free holds work but I know you can put a house on em. Since you have to be a citizen of a node to have a free hold, maybe you'll be able to sell your apartment once you've built your homestead?

The housing based on node size is the in node housing (apartments and static houses), not the Freeholds. There will be plenty of land for all to obtain a freehold.

With that said, a node must be level 3 (village) or higher for you to purchase any type of housing, in-node, static house, or freehold.

You get housing first, then you can become a citizen.

    From the wiki:
"Player housing offers a number of benefits:[7][8]
Ability to claim citizenship to a node.[9]"
  • Why pay for an apartment when you own a freehold? You can only be a citizen on one node.

Sure, get an apartment for easier travel and storage. Remember, your paying taxes. You really want to have a heavier resource drain?

You guys keep thinking nodes will grow, overnight. The resources to grow a node, will slow growth to an almost standstill, without cooperation and serious effort. Nodes will take forever to grow.

First your going to have to exp the node with quests and killing and crafting.

Then, when the node hits stage 3, your going to need resources (lumber and stone) to build the node. Some nodes might be in a desert and need lumber transported to it. Are people gathering these resources? What about the other nodes growing? They want lumber to. Resource shortage!

As the node grows, more resources and activities (exp) are going to be needed. Compounding slower growth.

Look, someone just got jealous or wants to grief the node, it gets smashed and now you have to start over.

Get your heads out of the box, people. This is a MMORPG. Things take time (leveling, questing, loot getting, finding our real guilds, making friends, building an empire, etc). The longer sh*t takes, the more time the devs have to add content.

Ah my understanding was that you had to own a home to be a citizen, not just property.

Good to know freeholds count and don't require a homestead. Thanks for the info. 😁

Far Far away to a cold lofty perch. Most likely get far enough away and pull out the mule, Trailblazer(Sadly my brother came up with that name a long time ago, i can't take credit). If any other lone-wolf types want to come i am fine with that or more likely they will be there far away from everyone else by nature. I would need more info on divine nodes as metro to come to a full decision, but most likely would go for a scientific node as primary for crafting purposes. Teleport is just the side benefit imo. I would like to have emphasis on a divine node after that for the additional augment(if possable). I am not entirely sure how citizenship will work in concert of other nodes in your ZOI, would I still have access to the divine node in my ZOI if I am a citizen of the parent node?

I'm with you @Hystorix; I'm hunting for an economic node to make me coin. If it happens to be next to the ocean or large lake all the better!

oceanfront/ lakefront freehold...yeah, i like the sound of that

I'm picturing the race scene from Hidalgo - whatever that 3000 mile horse race movie was - everyone sprints the first mile just to give a show before they settle down and trot because they realise it's a marathon.

With one Divine gate on the Western Continent and two on the Eastern, where will you start? Where will you go?

To me, the Western is looking very tempting; provided not every one is thinking the same, we may have a smaller population to start and it could be easier to head out and explore the 'new' lands...and yes, I'm still looking for an economic node to advance

Well if we weren't before, we are now! ;)

    @Gruntag

There are two portals on each continent. And each portal represents a races natural area. You can portal (start) wherever you chose, but you might choose outside your race, like the Tulnair, since they don't have one.

I totally missed the 2nd starting spot on the Western Continent...shhh don’t tell anyone, it will be our secret. We will have the West mostly to ourselves. 😆

Likely where one of the snow peaks borders a forest or wetland. Or straight desert.
  • I'm just taking a completely wild guess here, but here's my theory on what's happening. I wonder where the underrealm will fit in?? Looks pretty cool though

Nice... Except you need to divide the continents into quarters, as there are 4 realms on the surface. The fifth realm being in the under realm, and it's just that, an under realm (huge caverns), linked to the surface in various areas.

You can over lay the starter portals, on your map, and get an idea about the division.

Dig deeper, and you will find where the castles are.

I want to find a nice dale like area next to some mountains and forests and a nice running river.
  • SashockuSashocku Member, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
My goal is to live in a nice underrealm node studying the art of necromancy, taming whatever underground creatures i can and trying out the animal husbandry to create new and interesting creatures for my underground zoo. I want to have as many pets as possible. I shall be your friendly underground necromancer who runs animal shop of sorts if the game allows.
  • To wherever the gathering nodes are plentiful. :)
  • I will probably spend my first day in the main area seeing to complete the beginners quests. I will head out deep after that though

  • I will be going with the wind!
  • So... off to the races, we go! 🏃
