Combat resets

I noticed that there's a traditional combat reset in the game where a certain distance generated between the start of the fight (location based) and the player will reset combat.
I think it would be amazing to see combat resets based on enemy (npc based) to player distance that also varies per different enemy. For example: a slow troll would give up chasing you sooner than a fast raptor would. Meaning the distance between you and the troll needs to be 5 meters+ for a combat reset, and the distance between you and the raptor needs to be 6 meters+.
What are your thoughts on this typ of mechanic?

I think it's a good question for the next QnA.
