i dunno why? they don't want shapeshifting abilities too.

Like a Druid from WoW ? Or Dungeons and Dragons ? ;)

Cool Werebear- or Werewolf Forms would rock.

no guns/black powder or steam punk please....

dude read the god damn post please... its annoying to repeat that i myself pointed out the even more fun and interseting idea of magic guns that create ice bullets and use fire runes to fire. hell did you miss the whole thing about the idea of a artificer class or at least artisan skill line you could get through specific allocations of levels?

You are a very rude person throwing a hissy-fit because most people do not agree with your thoughts... please grow up and learn to accept that not everyone will agree with your idea of fun (or much else either).

BG3 has smoke powder which is supported by the lore in FR, and no firearms. There are plenty of games - in fact probably the majority of games - that have some form of firearm. So far, this isn’t one of them.

For starters just so there is NO confusion, what i mean by 'first expansion additions' is that after launch, there will obviously be expansions that add new stuff and i bet we will see crossbows return as well in a similar style AFTER launch to avoid scope creep.

Now as for the idea, personally ik people have this really weird hate for ANY firearms in fantasy even tho irl, blackpowder has existed for A LONG time and while guns didnt get made until a while after blackpowder, partially thats cuase there wasnt a need for them and what they were capable of at THE VERY beginning wasnt worth the cost to many people. Now as for the specifics around how and why i feel it makes A LOT more sense to see basic firearms in fantasy is cause in a world where you can create enchantments to create fire by using some invisible energy much akin to air like 'mana' or some other magic source AND even perhaps do things like have another enchantment create solid air or ice and than imbue an enchantment that makes it a lot stronger and prevents melting to than make it possible to fire by triggering the fire rune and firing off the ice bullet really just makes it so honestly, there is no reason why a world where such a thing is possible, that WOULDNT happen ESPECIALLY when there is tons of monsters out there that wanna kill you and your whole family but you dont have the time, money, or maybe even ability flat out to learn to wield a sword that with the power of a true swordmaster behind it and some poweful enchantments on it could probably outclass ANY gun or bow made of the hair and bones of a dragon that a truly strong archer could wield in such a manner where they could blow away another dragons head with a single enchanted arrow. honestly i could imagine guns being the 'STRONG as a base but unless you devote a lot of time, money, and have the knowhow yourself, they will never be worth anything in the face of the truly strong' type weapon with crossbows being the inbetween with bolts still needing to be made but because of that, they can be made out of VERY strong matierials AND have more than what are basically enchantment shavings to boost their strength as opposed to those ice bullets i mentioned.

Basically you could have a flintlock style pistol that takes some time to charge between shots but is as a base pretty good and easy to use with perhaps people who could go down a skill line that would be added along side these firearms which would be 'artificing' and take up your artisan role could use more specific guns aside from the ones ANYONE can use like those basic flintlocks which say a swashbuckling pirate fighter who spends their time on the sea could use a sword in one hand for when close range combat breaks out and have the pistol for more medium range engagements without havning to devote anything to make it good. Honestly it could be fun being an artificer which could be a branching path from enchantment so you need to be an enchanter to than specialize further and become and artificer or maybe even be BOTH a enchanter and blacksmith which upon reaching high enough levels in them (proly not max) you get access to spend the rest of your levels as a artificer so you would be a ok enchanter and blacksmith but your real specialty would be guns, bombs, automatons perhaps powered by magic like golems but made from special alloys and enchantments that allow them to be fully automanous companions.

    You are so fucking whiny.

All you do is complain and act like people can't read because they don't agree with you. I don't personally want any firearms in the game, magically powered or not. It's stupid in my opinion and doesn't fit the theme of the game. Play something else instead of blaming devs for ruining your magic shooter immersion. Holy fuck you sound so entitled.

Almost no one on the forums agrees with you, and you made an ass of yourself. You really think the devs are gonna read this post, see your behavior, and think "man, this is the kind of player we should cater too"?

if they are made with magic, why would they take the shape of bullets or even guns when that doesnt exist in their world. why wouldnt they take the shape of somethign that already exists, like an arrow or something.

how would they know that a gun is the best shape to shoot a bullet, when the whole mechanism isnt using gunpoweder and gun and bullet mechanism. they are propelled by magic. the shape of the weapon could as well be a rock or a ball and shoot spikes.

how would the magic gun fit into the lore?

They do, cos they're a shit idea. If I want to shoot guns, I'll play CSGO.

'they have good lore reason to exist'
There is absolutely no lore reason for them to exist. Nothing we've heard so far in the lore even remotely touches on them whatsoever.

'they could exist in a fun and interesting way that explains their limitations and adds a whole different type of class style'
Really really no. Doesn't fit in with the theme of the game

dude i have 'i want them'
Which just leaves you back with the "i want them".

Look, you've come up with an idea, and that's fine. It's just a bad idea. Take a cue from Elsa, and just Let It Gooooo...

Anyway, you're going on Ignore now, for obvious reasons. Enjoy playing CSGO.

if anybody can use wand i can't see a good reason to have gun (i love gunemage, engineer, tinker, artificer class btw), maybe to improve wand? super long range Wand?

i'm not against it. it's not like i'm forced to use them.
sorry for my bad english, my native langage is french.

this will be my last post cause i find it annoying to have to keep repeating the smae thing cause people dont care about actually bothering to try to understand perspectives they unnaturally hate AND there was actually a lot more people showing how they dont mind and how this is far more up in the air than those against the idea wish it was, its a matter where there is no good reaons why it cant happen... the artificer is a well known fantasy trope and archtype and for those who dont understand what this would look like, look up percy from the legend of vox machina but imagine fire runes instead of black powder and ice runes that create ice bullets in the barrel instead of steal bullets... beyond all of that, you all go on about how MY behavior is bad ignoring the fact that my behavior is based on the people who flagrantly and rudely just dismissed the idea i put effort into talking about and explaining in a logical and concise manner with intentionally rude and sarcastic one note remarks which im not against IF they acutally provided proper points or at least gave ANYTHING even if it was just a "No, i dont feel it fits the theme." with at least that would provide some level of an ACTUAL TANGIBLE argument that i would only be able to point out my view in return instead of returning some sarcastic and rude comments back for what was only baseless insults of comments.

There is no crossbow in Ashes or cannons. Thus, where would fire arms come from? You need a linear path to discovery. Not just slap stuff together and call it an Archetype.

I don't like chocolate ice-cream, why would I have to provide an actual tangible argument to justify something I just don't like?

i did provide an argument. how would they know the shape of bullets and guns even if they are made with magic? why not the shape of arrows or big pointy things that can cause lots of damage.

also, i dont really care if they are added or not. i dont mind

Are the ships gonna have cannons? Because if they will, then guns should exist too. I personally don’t like guns in my fantasy mmos, but if it makes sense then sure 🤷

Ships will have large Potion Launchers.

large catapult-style siege engines would seem a common approach for both land and sea
