another pitch for flintlock type firearms as later expansions after launch

this is a simple post and while i could repeat the same things i have said before, i feel its better to just show the sort of variety of options of old school guns im talking about and also mention that characters like percy from the legend of vox machina should be kept in mind too.
edit: ok so this is the one question i wanna ask EVERYONE who says no to guns being in a fantasy game and especially ashes and i want a real answer and not just the same repeated line of 'no guns....'
if everyone is so ok with not just crossbows but ESPECIALLY potion launcers which will be the cannons on naval stuff than WHY would it not be ok suddenly to have a gun powered by glint where you load glint down the barrel and than a bullet and when you pull the trigger, a fire rune absorbs the glints power and than creates a tiny blast of fire that mimics what gunpowder would do causing the same effect? legitimately, the only 2 things you might notice would be the model of their weapon would look like a weird armless crossbow outta the corner of your eye and the sound would probably sound simialr to a fireball explosion which mind you, the first one wouldnt matter on its own because like hell your really gonna notice it in the heat of battle AND if your ok with potion launchers being planned to be added than literally your already ok with that aspect of it and the second one isnt an issue cause again, in the heat of battle you wont even notice it over the other copius amounts of sound effect seen as the game will seemingly be focused around groups of 4 AT LEAST for almost all content with upwards of 8 people on avg per group AND again, i guarantee potion launchers would have a similar if not the same but just louder sound effect meaning if your ok with poiton launchers, there is no reason that magic guns existing could POSSIBLY hurt your LOTR immersion more than it already would be which you would attest by saying potion launchers are fine, that it DOESNT hurt you if you dont use em yourself...... tell me....... WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

(ok now this one is mostly just a funny haha one im adding to lighten the mood because ik how people get around the adding guns to a fantasy game thing for some weird reason but hey, a gun that shoots a shotput is also a funny, yet in a world with dragons and people physically strong enough to hurt said dragons with a sword, practical idea to be able to use a firearm to achieve the same or greater affect at range while still making use of such abnormal strength )

like legitimately, i dont get why you people are even so against it... like if you guys werent against crossbows than what is the difference for you seen as you wont even be able to really see what people are holding and im not fucking saying to add clockwork towers and floating skyships or anything like that... like srly if the only difference from YOUR pov for what it looks like and how it could POSSIBLY hurt your LOTR fantasy world immersion is that a crossbow has arms and the gun wouldnt and the crossbow would make a 'ca-chunk' sound while the gun would make a gunshot sound with mind you, in the heat of even a smaller battle between like 2 groups of 4 to 8 which seems like the intended standard number of players per group, you wont even really be hearing that unless you were the one holding the damn thing......
What more do you want from us? You repeat the same bullshit from last time, and expect a different response. Maybe it's not us with the problem, just saying...
i keep saying the same shit cause i want it known you keep repeatidly saying no for no good reason... legitimately fucking show my last point that it wouldnt even be noticible to anyone not using the damn things wrong and ill shut up... like legit a crossbow would have a whitetrail behind the arrow and be held the same damn way as a rifle....... WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DIFFERENCE THAT APPARANTLY IS SO BIG YOU THINK IT SHOULD NEVER BE IN THE DAMN GAME?
basically fucking actually say something meaningful if you want me to shut up about it cause i see no reason they couldnt be added after launch as an expansion just like crossbows probably will be...
They can add whatever they want, including guns, but I prefer they didn't. It's really that simple.
you need to chill tf out lol go play new world, they have guns
They had a potion launcher but then scrapped it.
But Steven himself said “No” to black powder. Don’t mind the forums, everyone has “I want itus”
Ships, Caravans, Castles, Guild Halls, and Freeholds should have access to Cannons.
-Each shot should take time. All of them should be front loaded, and tamped in by hand, no cartridges.
-Shot should be Crafted, expendable ammo, and combined with Processed Glint as the charge.
-This would give the player base one expensive weapon/ammo type to dive into if they chose to. There should be loading animations for all of them! If you're going to do it - please don't half-ass it - and please, no weird 7 barreled bullshit either. Ya get one barrel for rifles and cannons, the only way to get two barrels, is if you dual-wield pistols.
-With Ballista already in the game, I'd like to see Crossbows added back into the Weapon tree after launch.
Thanks!
That's gonna work.
Who knows what future expansions hold though.
the reason im so annoyed is cause like you just did, you didnt asnwer the single question i had... what is hte difference if you of your own attestation are so ok with crossbows? literally the only 2 things you would notice if you never used them is the model would look like a slightly weird crossbow and have a different sound effect so what is the killer difference that deems the rp options need to be cut down pointlessly?
hell in my last post i even made a reccomendation like that pointing out a world with enchanting and magic would allow for more interesting firearms that could have a simple tiny fire rune that just creates a tiny burts of fire and another that creats a bullet of earth or ice and enchants that bullet with durability so it wont disintigrate when the fire rune goes off meaning arcane guns would actually make more sense and thats also how you could justify not needing ammo for them too if ya wanted.
agreed, thats one of the other ways they could be added with you would haveta spec heavily into them to lower the reload enough with maybe even small traps like snares or caltrops that you could get in that tree that would allow you to buy time for reloads or have a defensive position that stops enemies from IMMEDEATLY at lesat punishing you the second you miss a shot making you not COMPLETELY helpless in a fight where someone has closed the distance.
more like im showing that im not talking about modern ars or shit like that. im talking about things so damn close in appearance to crossbows to draw attention to the fact that if your ok with one, why not the other? like srly the ONLY thing that you would notice if you dont use them is the sound effect BUT that would be obsceured by all the other sound effects constantly going off in a battle and be no different likely to a fireball explosion sound effect meaning you wont even likely notice that so AT BEST all it could do to hurt your LOTR fantasy vibe is maybe you see what looks like a weird armless crossbow outta the corner of your eye in a fight or see said weird crossbow user doing a funky looking animation every so often..... like full stop there is about no way it would be hurting the LOTR vibe unless you are truly that incapable of just letting things be for other people and thats what im trying to draw attention to.
urheehhhhh..... yea i will at least say that from an immersion standpoint, yea i guess we cant expect them to care about consistency.. as long as they give us the potion launcher in a later expansion, at least thats something although tbf, if these people are SOOOOO against guns, it makes me curious why everyone who has been openly against it are fine with even the fucking potion launcher? like at that point the only difference between that and a gun is that a potion launcher would have a potion explode on impact where a gun would likely have similar vfx on impact to a crossbow which makes me feel that these people are just being petty idiots who dont give a fuck that they are definitively wrong about their reason for being against it and just refuse to accept it for the sake of their pride at this point....
Everyone's fine with potion launcher because they were in the apocolypse game and were mentioned as something that might be in ashes of creation. So on stevens word that its was a thing people will accept it. With him saying no to "black powder" and guns in general the people also parrot this point.
So its not like people in general wouldnt like guns, its that people are more attached to sticking with stevens vision. And thats fine for me, but it might not be for you. I get that this new mmo wont have something you really like, but this is one of those things that will need a distant expansion or just never exist.
We will get some artificing, don't worry about that. But it may be siege kit weapons and not something we can run around with.
Just like we're going to get a version of a cannon, but expect it to fling arcane infused crystals and potions.
There's not going to be a lot of hardfire and steel in Ashes.
thats the point im trying to get people to realize that im not saying i want necessarily it to haveta be black powder and why i have explained in detail some ways to work into the lore a magic gun version and hell that guy who mentioned using glint paired with my idea of a small fire rune that gets powered by the glint is a fun way to do the same thing. if anything im just hoping this gets big enough that steven or at least the team sees it and has to realize there is no good reason to say no and needlessly limit peoples RP just because they dont like the very concept. beyond that i also wanna reiterate that i am also only reccomending this as a part of an expansion AFTER the full release of the game so im not even suggesting scope creep.
It's probably going to make its way in the game via accessories to the vehicle systems.
Accept that Steven is firmly against adding them - or don't accept it.
Highly unklikely anything you say is going to change his mind.
i dont have to tho. this is an open development game and if it pisses the devs or steven specifically off that i keep reccomending this and pointing out the flaws in logic than they can delete this post and send me a message saying to stop talking about it lest i wanna be banned and than i would accept at least they have seen the points i made and they decided to ignore them. until than i will keep making my case until i get clear recognition that the core issue of the matter has been recognized.......
also for the sake of my sanity, at least acknowledge that you guys only say no cause steven does and accept you were wrong that there literally is basically no way guns could hurt your LOTR fantasy vibes if you just choose to not use them because it fucking cant...
