The first mmorpg I ever played was last chaos, and yes it is memorable for how bad it was, it was clunky, the classes were not only race locked but gender locked as well and there was hardly any customisation to it. There were no quests when I played you just had to find a spot and grind till you were no longer getting good exp then go find a new spot (that part isn’t why it was bad though).
First is probably FFXI... but it didn't last long. Everquest 2 is the first one I took seriously.
But Rift was really the one I played the longest/most seriously before starting to burn out on the genre. It'd be really cool to see some old names/guildies in Ashes.

The most memorable is tied between Lineage 2 and World of Warctaft, both gave me unforgettable moments.
I remember us having a binder of print outs for guides lol.
