  • English is not my native language, but I was forced to learn it as well.

Part of me wants to tell you to learn the language and struggle through, so you won't have this problem again in the future.
The other half hopes there are enough of you to warrant a server, so you can just play and have a good time without having to be harassed.
Hope it works out for you guys. <3

@Naxxaz I can't think of a better way to learn a new language . If there is a french server I may have to join it.
  • On many games it was very hard for us to regroup on a guild because we had no dedicated server and lot of us had to play on EU FR server to avoid racism.

I am French and it makes me so sad that some French are racists about other French speaking countries. They are total idiots and I hope you will believe that all French are not having fun about other French accents. Such behavior is pushing French speaking countries to get emancipated from French language and it's very sad for the number of lucutors in the World.

You have all my support and count on me to fight those who will disrespect you on EU FR servers.

If you are looking for a group of people i recommend joining a discord and a guild that is more French focused if you have a hard time with English or prefer to speak in French.

IF you are going to argue for it, it shouldn't be a french canadian server though, as canada is bilingual, part of me would question why to try to segregate it and not ask for a full Canadian server...(not that i would want that).

If you want to try to argue for a French server I'd push for a France EU server as that would actually make more sense. You most likely would find more people that speak french on a EU server than a NA EAST server.

I personally don't see any games being big enough to start having servers per province, that just doesn't sound realistic.

Let's not make it a "us vs them" problem. Let's just be inclusive when inclusivity is possible.

Canada isn't a bilingual nation, no. People speak English or French, but not everybody speaks both. Matter of fact, a lot of people only speak one language and the racism toward Quebec is real. Personally I can play anywhere, but I feel bad for people who are told "too bad" when all they want is ONE dedicated server to their native language.

Hi ho everyone. You can see i can write in an "OK" english, but it was not always the casse. I was FORCE to learn english and install the games in english because my two only option are 1)Lag free USA english server 2)EU far and laggy Server. Game maker forget that Canada have 2 mains languages.
On many games it was very hard for us to regroup on a guild because we had no dedicated server and lot of us had to play on EU FR server to avoid racism. Racism is a thing on all games.
That's very interesting because in the 90% of canada that speaks english we are expected to learn french in fact we have whole schools for french immersion where kids are not allowed to speak english when in school! Why is this not expected from Quebecers? Sounds like the racism your talking about is probably coming from the reflection in the mirror and not from the games your playing. That would coincide with Quebec's overall attitude to anyone who is not a Quebecer!

Oh Quebecois do have English classes and they're mandatory. Quebecois that don't speak english a little bit are just uneducated. We are supposed to be bilangual, but not everyone is good at it.

I was taught English in school. Four years I believe. Did I speak English when I immigrated to the USA? No, I didn't. I could speak very little with a terrible accent and my grammar was awful. You don't learn another language by attending school. I know it, and you know it. And the racism and sexism in gaming is real. It shouldn't be, but it still is. I personally have no issue speaking or writing in English, or French (although i don't use it everyday, so I have been losing some), but I would like to see just one server dedicated to the French language, because Quebec is part of North America. Forcing an entire group of people to speak and write in another language reminds me of Indian reformatory schools, or in my case, of the Franco-Algerian conflict.

It doesn't take anything from you. It's not like you will play there, although you're welcome to.

    Going a bit extreme there.

The problem with this is that servers in Ashes really do need a minimum population to be viable in a gameplay sense - not even an economical sense.

The target goal for a server in Ashes is 50,000 players in total calling that server home. With 11 million French speakers in Canada, that would mean that 0.5% of that population would need to play Ashes in order to maintain that one server at it's optimal population level.

If we took that 0.5% figure and moved down to the US, that same figure would mean the game would have over 30 US servers. However, the likely scenario for this game is that there will be two or three US servers by the time the game is a year old - meaning if we moved those numbers back, the French NA server would have 10% or so of the population it needs. This would see a point where if every single player on the server logged in, the server would still only be at half of it's concurrent capacity.

Realistically, Intrepid need populations of 50,000,000 or more to make a server viable. French NA just doesn't meet that.
