Epic Boss Fight Idea/Desires (WARNING: Wall text ahead.)
This will be a long post but bare with me.... 1. A boss fight to me should be epic. You've endured the dungeon or wild and it's minions to get to said boss, and now it's time to grit your teeth and put all your skills to the test. (I'm going to use a dragon as the example because I think we all associate a dragon with the… -
Re: GUILD COMPETITIONS! U will love this idea! support this thread for developers to bring this idea up.
A couple of things come to mind. 1. Teleportation Ashes aims at being a PvX open world game with things that happen in the world actually happening in the world. So the competition location would have to be within the actual world, meaning a character has to be able to walk/ride there. Most content is supposed to be open… -
Re: Body Blocking Projectile Attacks While Green/With Mobs
First, I never have any problem about how should arrows or projectiles should behave or be done etc, and I also know that in game character and system and server can't see or predict the future like how human does so most of game just make projectiles fly in straight line or like a magic missile chases to the target until… -
Re: Benefits of smaller Guilds
I can easily accept that Uber-guilds will exist in Discord managing several in-game guilds and alliances towards a variety of shared goals, all requiring a significant amount of people management expertise from the guild leadership teams. Running a guild is time consuming and I really respect those that do it well.… -
Re: NPCs/Players shouldn't show their name plates to you until you've met them or heard about them
I am pro-rp. I like realism. That being said, think of it from the eyes of an inexperienced gamer. You want to quest to get immersed in a node and help contribute to the area. But you know nothing other than the look of the node/its facilities and maybe out of game conversations. You'd need to talk to a bunch of people… -
Re: NPC Armies and Territory expansion/creep
It's all the same door. None of what you wrote answered my question about what you mean by “if you leave it alone, you arent missing anything aside from being denied the ability to return to normal.” I'm human and can forget some details, but I know more about the game than what's written in the wiki. So I fully undertsand… -
Re: Question about AoC compared to other big competing MMO´s
They will compete by not copying what others have done and instead they are designing systems that they think will work well for AoC. Dungeons/Raids: They are taking a totally different approach from WoW. If WoW’s dungeons and raids are your favorite thing about the genre then AoC might not be for you and that’s ok.… -
Re: Mob threat detection
I always thing of threat as annoyance. So a mob looks at how annoying an enemy is depending on their Dmg, Healing and what else they do (depending on what the game aknowledges). A tank simply stands on top of the threat list because they are professional smack talkers and really know how to make a mob angry at them. A game… -
Re: Sight and Sound in AI
Of the two easy ways to code that type of percieved reaction and behaviour its the emergent side of it that tends to be a newbie ending job to tweak.the quickest way would be just a fuzzy state machine combining some simple constraints, desires, stimulus and the reaction becomes a lot more unpredictable but seemingly… -
Re: Contracts and reputation
Eve Online is a really good study case as to how something like this gets implemented into the game naturally. Eve Online players for many years had to work peer to peer on these issues (usually property law and fulfillment contracts.) Due to the make up of their active player base, actual players with law and financial…
