  • 100% dependent on the situation if it's a freaken army of players that I couldn't do jack against I might just have to move on. However if that boss just decides to piss me off I'ma murder it... Then you have griefers who I will probably actively track down if I know about em anyways.

    A node going down or something I'm not really sure it depends on what the backlash actually is to me and the people around me. If it disrupts trading/balance of power etc. well we might have to rectify that rapidly.
  • Im comin' back for you. Best believe it!
  • Cope? This is a virtual world. ????   Level it back up, move on and try something new? Lol
  • It would truly depend on the way the guild I was a part of reacted to it, I would follow their lead.  If left to my own devices though, I would probably just move on to something similar if I was enjoying the node type and try something different if I wasn't.
  • Destroy. Pillage. Loot. Fire. Burn.
  • As passive I say I'll be, if I see someone from the opposing guild who helped take it down completing a trade route I THINKKKK I may  be an inconvenience  :)
  • looks like a lot of us are a right unforgiving bunch, me included

    Sooner or later, all that hard work you've put in to levelling your node, participating in the community, obtaining your player housing, decking out your freehold... It's all going to vanish when your node is sieged and destroyed.

    How are you going to react?
    Even though I am 50 Short to buy the 1050$ pack. I can gurantee that I would probably leave the game if I lose everything I spended Time for.. maybe I should not found this game if you just simply lose everything that you build up for Month. I need to make some more research before backing I guess. Good call looking into this thread first.

    There is a slight exaggeration here my humble new comer. Nodes are a part of this game and they level up as players do activities around them. Elected officials can also buy builds for nodes using tax money from the citizens of that node. Nodes can also be sieged and if the siege. If the siege is successful then the node will lose a level and buildings from the previous level will be destroyed/deactivated.One thing to note is initiating a siege will take as much resources as it took to build the node up.

    So No, you will not be losing anything yourself. You will go back your day doing whatever you did before and the node will start leveling up again.

    It really depends on how far the node got knocked down, but the devs have also said something about looking into a system where you retain some of your freehold stuff in limbo till you can get a new one/place it again if your freehold was destroyed.

    Thats the beauty of this MMO:
    In most MMOs they present to you A neat Narrative thats only a good 1-way-Trip.
    After that, its half-A$$ content.

    THIS MMOs is presenting that AND a well-rounded Concept that's Universal - something always deliver because its Each time you attempt to Rebuild & Re-establish the Nodes ... its going to always be different:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You'll probably come across new Obstacles
    You might decide to Build the Node in a different Zone
    Different NPC opponents
    Different Loot, Crafting Material, etc ...
    Players might need to Forge new Allies ( via Guild & Player-Friendships )
    Different areas will possess different resources to gather
    Different Quests of all kinds upon moving to a different node.
    Different Events to spawn WITHOUT the Devs having to Update it **Hopefully**
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In short, thats why the 'Core Aspect' of Ashes of Creation is the Node System - to
    Re-Build. But not Like Clash of Clans. but instead ... the Journey will be Different each time . And each time a Node is destroyed and it's Citizens have to move to a different Zone ... the Lore Will be discovered along the Way

    In other words, here's how i see it ... each Node is a Puzzle. The Beginning & End of that Nodes Existence will be a Part of Narrative and thus discovering more, Unique things along the way.

    So i wouldn't necessarily feel discouraged about it. Since you just recreate it again

    (" Universal " is a pun )
  • I'm probably the most vindictive guy you will ever meet. Super friendly if your nice to meet and will even help you out, but if someone messes with me I have to come out on top. Revenge it is.

    Isn't it supposed to take a loooooong time to complete a siege anyways? Besides it's a cruel world out there but whatever horrifying creatures end up being the deities of this realm have give us some safeguard mechanics to loss. Like the flagging system.

    Honestly though I'd like to see freeholds actually be free. Expensive enough and hard to get by needing a large node nearby to build it. But not linked to the node in such a way that if the node goes down you lose your freehold itself. Maybe if your freehold is attacked in the siege then sure.

    Don't want it to just up and fly away because X node got mugged and lost it's wallet to node Y over a disagreement on the street 2 days ago when node X made a snide remark about wolpertingers. You let me keep my freehold so I can serve beer to the local nutbars on this forum at a loss... Cause that's just what I want to do...
  • Blood must be payed with Blood.  They have shown themselves to be monsters, corrupted with their sins.  We must show them the error of their ways and to do that is to destroy their self worth, make them feel powerless then only after that can you shatter them into weak shells that will never pose a threat again.

  • This is actually a thought that bothers me for quite some time. I very much like to build things up, watch stuff grow, etc, and I don't appreciate having to see it go up in flames. At the same time, I'm a mostly peaceful person and try to mitigate and/or avoid conflict whenever I can, so direct confrontation, even if we're talking about defence, is a last resort for me.

    What I end up doing is finding the most isolated location I can find and starting my work there. The idea is that it should take a really dedicated person to get there (no sudden encounters), and it would be too much of a hassle for most people in the first place. Also most of the time this kind of location isn't the most popular one, because let's face it, it's harder to get economy going in isolated locations, and being in the center of everything (so other locations are close nearby) is out of the question.

    Granted, the location I'll settle in will have to be both isolated AND beautiful, so it might take a while before I actually find such a place lol.

    The way you're typing, isn't that more like Ogres instead of Orcs?

    I'll be sure to. Assuming I don't get eaten along the way. Knowing my luck though...
