Forum Name vs. Character Name

I don't know about many of you, but I will likely never have a character in game named "Possum".  I like to use names that better suit the lore of the game I'm playing.  And since I won't be playing as a marsupial that hangs by its tail, "Possum" is out.

Y'all are going to have a helluva time finding me in game.  lol

** Except @Isende.  Obviously she'll know who and where I am.  :)

  • Although, I may update my forum signature with my character's name.  That would be a suitable solution.
  • I have a few names I go by. Saeyo Prayers being one, Dissonance being another. They have been the same since 1998 and I don't expect they'll change anytime soon. Lol
There are a few others, but these names are always reserved for my mains.

As it's a relaxed weekend thus far I will give you a challenge in solving this anagram to reveal what my name ingame will be @Possum! ;)

    Ready? Ok here we go.......

    ZRKTA

    Edit: For being dense.

  • The main name I have used in gaming is stealth which I have used since metal gear 1. I only picked this name as I thought it would be a nice change of pace

    Gosh, I don't know.... That's a tough one.  :P
  • I will be Sozia in game unless someone else beats me to it. Which would be odd, since it is a fairly unique name.

I told ya...I wouldn't have given this to you on a stressful weekend ;)
  • I never really use the same name on forums as I do in game
  • @Kratz
    How is Tzark pronounced?
  • I find it confusing to see people on the forums who have different names, I'm so used to talking to them and the *poof* different person

Well, another aspect of this issue is a little malady with which @Isende and I are both afflicted.... alt-itis.  In other games, I have more alts than I can count.  Did you know WoW has a 50 character limit?  I found out.  :P

Definitely different names.  For starters, I'm pretty sure you can't use a hyphen.

T is silent and there's a huge emphasis on the "zâ". You have to say like an Italian sitting on a porcupine. ;)

One of my guild mates has a phonetic theme in his character names, the same 3 or 4 letter combination is in the name somewhere for the most part.  That part of his name is more like his nickname now, so when I see characters in the guild list its not hard to see which ones are his - and they're all lore/RP/world fitting names to boot.

That is an interesting way to do it I think I may have to look into it
  • Ok, just because we are talking about names. I found a story about an old avatar of mine from Ultima Online., Katzen.  Now, I don't recall this adventure going the same way At All. *cough* It is still terribly funny to me.

So are you going to be @Rumbleforge or Aegir? Aegir Rumbleforge?
  • I'd use the same name in game to, but if someone's taken it I would use something not the same at all. I would also put it on the forum. Just change my signature picture.

I will stick with one person all game but I may make a alt to help low level friends when I need to

Aegir Rumbleforge will be my in game name.
Aegir was what I was more known for in my dwarven persona until Minecraft came out, where my name was simply "Rumbleforge" and I became a noted personality in a particular community for awhile.   From that point, the Rumbleforge part of my gaming persona name took on greater meaning...  and I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't nervous about someone taking it in the game before me.

It's funny how we get attached to these names of ours.
I'm actually more concerned about my online names than I am my real life name....  (doesn't help that there's a guy that lives in the next town over that has the same name is me.)

I'm going to TRY to do this.  As I consider what Ashes will offer us, I see the potential to be more entirely invested in a single character than I've ever been in the past.  It'll be tough though.  I usually like to have a choice between ranged or melee.  So I  may end up with at least two characters... neither of which will be named "Possum".  :)

Maybe they will have a mentor system and you wouldn't need an alt.

I hope so, because I'd like to think I could help newbies or lower level characters in general during a quiet period in the game. However, under no circumstances will I create an alt. I'm a little weird like that I guess, in that I see my main character as me, ingame.

The only way I wouldn't need any alts is if there was only one race.  And one gender.
    Hah!

  • Dygz will be one of my alts.
  • You'll be seeing me as Morriganna!  :)
