Hello there!  Rogue Raven here with another question.
What class combination(s) are you most excited about, why, and what do you think would be the best name for the class?
As far as intrigue, I think the Bard combinations would be the most interesting, with either it as a main or secondary and I can't wait to find out more about what the combinations will mean as far as skills.  For instance, a Priest/Bard being some kind of Chanter that would heal with music over time, etc.
Let me know what you think.  ^_^

Love,
Rogue Raven

    @RogueRaven
I've done some deep-thinking on this

The 2 Archetype thats most interesting to me atm, is the Summoner & Bard. They seem to make interesting Combinations. The Summoner can be portrayed differently in some other Games. While the Bard ... while being perceived as a Musician, its also a Manipulator ( based on KickStarter Bio for Bard ) . And this makes me wonder, what type of " Weapons " will be available - will an instrument actually be used as a Weapon ? If so, and if any Class can choose any weapon ... how would that work ?

( i.e. If a Fighter use the Flute ... would it just not be very effective ? Would a Mage be the same way or any other Class ? etc ... )

As far as combinations goes ... i haven't decided yet.  :s
  • I'm waiting to see what the other classes ability's are before I make a decision, but I think classes with the summoner, cleric, or bard, either as the main but even moreso as the secondary class will be the most interesting. Given how unique the cleric skills already seem to be when compared to other game types, I really wonder how it will act as a secondary. We haven't heard anything about the summoner or mage, but given how summoners interact through their summons, I wonder how they will perform augmented abilities without using any main ones. And the bard! I mean, what's not exciting about the bard?
  • no idea, don't even know what the combat and stuff is going to really be like on any class yet so could not provide an informed rapport about the class combo(s) that intrigues me...maybe Mage/Beard?
  • In general, I'm most interested in 2 subsets of lass combos:

    1) Primary and secondary class matching - what actual new effects come from "doubling down" on your class?
    2) Primary caster, secondary melee specs - strange combos like mage-fighter or summoner-tank...it's har dto even conceive what these will be like!
  • I've thought a great deal about this topic. I'm very interested in Summoner combinations. Summoner/Tank might allow for your character to be very tanky while your summon does the damage. Or perhaps having the tank off class would transform your summon into a bit of a tank pet to take hits for you. Summoner/Mage might allow you to throw magic attacks while your summon gets up in your opponent's face.

As more of a supportive role, Cleric/Rogue may allow healing and stealth to stay out of harm's way. Bard/Rogue could fill the same sort of role, supporting from the shadows.
  • I love healing and utility so I want to play a healer/bard. I envision a bookish priest who goes out into the world to expand his or her knowledge. I would like the class combo to be called a monk (European style).
  • "  strange combos like mage-fighter or summoner-tank...it's har dto even conceive what these will be like! "
And this is what i love most - speculating what could be  o:)
  • For me its either Mage-Rogue or Mage-Cleric. With pvp being such an important aspect of the game I think it will be useful to have some reliable way to mitigating dmg. Close combat mage also seems fun but I dont think it will be as effect.
  • Mage ranger is going to be incredible... Firing enchanted arrows that will explode in a fiery ball, or heat seeking arrows, tracking arrows endless possibilities!
  • Mage-Cleric seems like a good place to start for survivability. Maybe maybe not we need more information on how the classes will augment each other. I will start there and play test all the mage-?? classes during the alphas/betas and see what works best for me as I always play a one off spec.

    Summoner-Barde, seem very cool
  • I am intrigued by ALL of the combinations at this point. The possibilities of what each may be make my head spin so I will have to reserve judgement until we have some solid information about them all.
  • I'm interested in how a Rogue/Bard and Rogue/Cleric will play.

I want to try them aaaaaaalll... But I'm currently intrigued with Mage/Rogue-Ranger/Rogue-Ranger/Summoner-Ranger/Fighter-Ranger/Mage
So chances are that my first character will start as a Ranger

  • Summoner!!!!!!!!!!! I used to play D2 a lot and I loved rampaging around with my necro and an enigma on...tele'ing around over and over wrecking house on everyone. I am excited to see what the summoner has to offer.
  • I'm really hoping for something along the lines of a Necromancer. So I'll probably be going Summoner something. I'll be absolutely giddy if I can get something along the lines of a Death/Shadow Knight.
  • There are a few that interest me. The Summoner is the most interesting class to me. In pretty much any game where summoning some kind of swarm is an option, I'm interested. Maybe Summoner/Cleric (depending on the mana requirements of summoning. If it ends up that you can't be a practical heal and buff with a summon out, then it becomes less interesting) or Summoner/Ranger. Basically, I want something that lets my avatar still have some solid agency rather than just relying on my summons.

The other thing that I'd like to try is Ranger/Rogue or Rogue/Ranger, see if its possible to build a reasonable sniper style assassin that I can maybe run as some kind of mercenary assassin for hire.
  • I have a couple that will be first on the list when I can play.  Rogue/Ranger or Ranger/Rogue to see which I like best followed by Rogue/All to see which I truly enjoy.  Tank/Fighter or Tank/Cleric to start followed by Tank/All, once again to find the perfect match for me.
  • Personally more partial to mages, but as for bard comboes. I'd say a Warrior/Bard should be called a Skald.

As far as rogue goes, I am the same way. Instead of Tank for me though I'd say it would be a fighter for me. The two classes that seem to pique my interest most are what the Rogue/Summoner and  Rogue/Bard will be.
  • For now can't find such combination.
    Just waiting for more info..
  • I really want to play with Mage/ Fighter ~ Battlemage. My character is based (So far in my head... lol) on the idea of a roaming order of mages OR fighters that specialize in defending the realm/world from the 'Corruptions Return' and to do so, they learn arcane and martial skills to be able to handle most situations. I just need the name of a powerful / lightside god and give them their name: The Wardens of <Enter Gods Name> ... Or, Wardens of the Phoenix!? Anyways, Battlemage! Although we could call them Spellward(s) / Mage Wardens / Spellguard / ... I'll have more later lol
  • Rogue (insert 2nd spec). When I can i try to play a class that's barehanded (martial artist) since there isn't an option for that going to try something outside of my normal play style and go rogue. Interested in seeing Rogue/Sum, Rogue/Cleric, Rogue/Mage, Rogue/Attacker.

Will spec secondary into mage encase there is some alchemy (always try to play potion master if possible/viable).
  • Cleric and tank.  Usually these get shoehorned by the meta into one specific combination that you absolutely must take or no parties...It is my hope that turns out different here, because I'm going to try cleric this time.
  • Anything that will allow my Ranger to Dual Wield Swords.....Like rangers were intended before this misconception that Ranger means 100% Ranged
  • I'm interested in whatever makes a monk martial arts type, or quarterstaff.
  • Stabby stabby vanish.
  • Rogue-tank and rogue-summoner. Big burst and survivable or burst with a minion.

    I'm intrigued
  • Either Fighter/Rogue for maximum Melee DPS or Fighter/Tank for Melee DPS with survivability.

Can't decide, but I am more leaning towards Fighter/Rogue, but my decision will depend whether Fighter/Rogue would be too squishy or not.

    Only testing will tell..
