Do we want to add the 2vs2?

The instanced pvp scene has atm:

People may say 2vs2 is broken. But 1vs1 is even worse. So why not add it?

  • I think 1v1, 3v3 and 5v5 brackets are sufficient. 2v2 doesn't sound appealing to me.
  • What I am wondering is why there is no 8 vs 8?

Having a group fights with each primary archetype represented would be fun. Perhaps 8 vs 8 could even force you to bring 1 of each primary archetype.

Forgot about that :9 cant add it anymore but yes.. 8v8 should be a thing!
  • 1v5 sounds like fun ^^
  • Not sure what the benefit would be or why...
Also, @Gothix 8v8 should be a thing. If dungeon content is designed for 8v8 there should be a way to test your group against another without meeting up at a battleground where others might be playing.

I always played 2vs2 with my brother xD so that why, it fun to do together without of need of a another person.

Sure why not. Shouldn't be too hard to implement 2v2 scenerio on the same (already designed) arenas. Those who don't like it could just go on different number setups... More options are always welcome.
  • Why not?
  • It doesn't really sound like something I would like participating in. 1v1 is very direct, 3v3 has some group dynamics but 2v2 would kinda be a watered down version of either of them.

Test your group... and your framerate.

I'm all about the PvP's, in fact I'm really only about the PvPs. The issue with sanctioning 1v1 and 2v2, then sanctioning 3v3, and 5v5 is you have way to wide of a target to balance for.

You don't want a scenario where you introduce 1v1 or 2v2 in your game and then balance around it because it is a now sanction part of your game (and you want your game to play well), but now 5v5 another important part of your game is broken because the changes you made to class x to balance them for 1v1 has broken them in 5v5.

I think it's far better to just say, hey we balance around this bracket XvsX. That's the sanctioned bracket, it's what we use as a standard of balance. If you are trying to balance across 4 different sized game modes you'll end up never balancing across any.

This is why blizzard stopped rating 2v2, it was impossible to reconcile the needs of that bracket with the larger game balance.

Pick a size that allows for competitive pvp, but also helps inform the balance of the larger game (world pvp, sieges ect)

Personally I kind of like 8v8. The dungeon content standard is 8, you already got your other 7 buddies you run dungeons with. It's small enough where individual skill matters, and large enough that it helps inform the balance for larger fights like sieges, and world skirmishes.

Framerate wouldnt be a problem for me XD

They have already said that they are going to ballance for groups of 8

I've heard for PvE content, but I've yet to see that said for PvP. Can you show me where that was said?
Even if that proves to be true I think there is a problem with introducing content, sanctioning that content, and not being able to ensure it plays well.
  • The more extras we ask for the game, the more the release is delayed.

    Let's not forget this.

Same maps same modes same objectives as all the other arenas just 4 players seems like 10 minuts of extra work. xD
  • I personally feel 3vs3 run better than 2vs2 arenas (even though I hate finding a third person! )
I think I'd like to see 8 vs 8 but with some vigorous testing in alpha/beta stages too see if it works ^^

Tbh now I think about it - what ever works after testing gets my vote :3

Can't wait to do some arenas :3

Are you the five with Dave and his buddies?
  • I can't argue with the "So why not add it?" part but as for the usefulness of it? It does sound pointless to me but I would probably still play it eventually if given the choice. It really just depends on if I had friends online or not. I will never 1v1 since I generally only play support classes. Tank vs. Ranged dps = I am screwed
  • I voted yes because, why not? Having said that I think IS have included enough as it is so if it would impact negatively on other aspects of development, I'd say forget it. :)

The more tiers, the less people playing any given tier. There should be 3 brackets MAX imo.

    IMO just 3v3 and 8v8.

    1v1 is just a dual...
  • I think that's all go an fine but in its missing the MMO part. I mean we cant all be noble people fight duels some of us have army's to march

True, but it doesn't mean that 2v2 would be popular, and I totally agree with you that 3v3 and especially 8v8 would be very cool indeed. I'd rather have more going on than not.
  • i don't know that many people so i did 2v2

I prefer waiting a bit more for a better game, rather than playing an unfinished product early and then quitting in a month because there is nothing to do.
  • Hmm, I'm not a fan of 2v2 even as someone who PvPs primarily with only one other person. It's usually always the same strat. CC one, focus the other. I prefer 3v3 or even 4v4, much more variety in the way the fights play out.

I was a very high rated 3vs3 in world of warcraft. Its exactly the same but you need 1 more person in cc then 2vs2 and kil the kill target xD.
  • YES THE MORE THE BETTER ! fack balancing !
