    That's good.

I'm glad the community's voice was heard and we have such a good champion for our cause.

it brings some serious trust issues, even though I'm not in EU.

I still think people are making too much of a fuzz about it and think Steven didn't give any thought to this decision, but man I really want to know what did he take into account to take that decision.
    Same here

I'm US based for now but I am about to move to the EU for grad school and wanted to play on EU servers just for ease of grouping on none down times etc. This announcement has definitely negatively effected my hype for the game. I guess I'll just play on NA servers if I can. Steven really needs to explain this fully.
But will you be able to play from EU on NA servers if they are region locked? You could VPN but that would destroy your ping times.
Actually using VPNs help with your ping times. There are VPNs that are specifically used for that purpose and I've used it to get sub 100ms on NA east coast.
  • im frustrated :( will region lock be a thing? i usually play on NA Servers and would love to do so, especially in this case
  • @reaccon Steven couldn't make a definite statement two days ago, but he said it's possible, even likely there won't be a region lock. He's visiting my.com headquarters tomorrow to hopefully confirm no region locks.
  • @c0ug4r
thanks for the reply, just saw it in another thread. thats a great information.
  • I bought the warrior of old kickstarter pack. I think it would be silly of me not to even look at the beta when it is released. But handing bank details over to a firm like My.com isn't going to happen.

Highly unlikely I will play this game now.
  • All the polls seems to weigh 70%+ in dissent of the My.com/Mail.ru involvement with Ashes of Creation. I've been playing MMOs since 1997 and I have NEVER seen this much consensus on any issue. This is not good.
  • I’m not giving my bank details to anyone who doesn’t have a proven track record in keeping them safe. This is a sad day 😞
  • Considering the lead shareholder has been rotated it is just a bunch of shareholder investors in my eyes and no longer care about the public opinion. I'm done with this.
  • First off I don't know why Intrepid isn't publishing their own game. Why do they need a publisher at all?
Secondly I live in the U.S. and I'm telling Intrepid now, if they go with My.com I will demand a refund, swear off ever playing Ashes, and make sure none of my friends ever play it. Ashes will be dead on arrival if Intrepid goes through with the decision to use My.com.
I have played several MMO's that used My.com and all of them were hacked DAY 1. That is how bad My.com is and what a horrible decision it would be to use them.
  • Wow what a mess. I now find myself in a position where I can no longer play this game. I fully supported Intrepid and the vision they have for this mmo, its why I backed them on kickstarter.
But there is no way I will be giving my email and bank account details to My.com, it just aint gonna happen.
I did beta testing for Rev online and that was enough to see how poor this company is, hacking of accounts, rude staff on the forums, ban happy staff for players just asking questions, frequent price changes without notice and so on.
So where does this leave us, what options do we have now ?

That's exactly my greatest concern. The idea, that my.com will handle the payment/billing, is horrifying for me. :s
  • yeah listen, i know these people robbed your house and emptied your bank account, but i need you trust me that I will prevent them from doing that again.........

    /sarcasm

I had an account with my.com once.... it belongs to someone else now.  My attempts at retrieving said account through their customer service were........ a nightmare that i never woke up from.

I, don't have the words to express how thankful I am that I had not yet pledged to ashes.  I had the mouse hovering so many times and "something" told me to hold off.  Glad I did.  If i had pledged, and then seen this happen, i'd be very pissed.

In my childhood years we had an expression........ "You dropped the ball"  I think that applies here.
  • Sorry Steven but My.com is guilty of so many bad practices over a number of years that they have said time and time again that they were a changed company. There is no getting our trust back, My.com is done and I am happy to boycott anything they publish.
  • I think everybody is possibly forgetting one huge portion of this:
    Finances

With the current "reputation" of my.com and perception from the gaming community, I would be willing to bet money that they are on a road to bankruptcy without doing something right and something positive.

...And enter Steven with Ashes of Creation!

This game was founded by Steven almost entirely based on his frustrations with developers and distributors focusing on cash grabs and other junk for money.  He's done an amazing job so far, so I see no reason to stop trusting in his judgement and negotiating skills.  As far as we know, they're just getting a little stipend to host servers in the EU and push a reset button every now and then.

Best thing to do is wait and see.

    Um, I dunno.

Why would Steven hand the publishing over to a company about to go belly up?

I think they are doing fine financially. People, as much as they complain about P2W, will still buy into it because they make it so you have to or else risk not being competitive.

  • Well my.com is a subsidiary of Mail.ru, which is the biggest Internetcompany in Russia. Last time I checked, they were worth 5 billion$, could be that this changed. Now I am not sure how this works, correct me if I am wrong, but I think if they have problems, they can get money from the mother company?
  • They said they won't do P2W and they are keeping their promise by my.com doing it for them.

Jokes aside, an explanation is due.
  • No matter what anyone says, My.com can't be trusted and I certainly won't trust them with payments or security. Sorry Steven, my whole guild of 500 people has decided not to play this game anymore.
  • Words can't describe how dissapointed I am right now.
I wish it was possible to refund a kickstarter package now..... "#¤"% this...

Just protest by playing on US Server. It will directly hit mail.ru in their wallet and the server will have round the clock action.

Ill be honest. I will play on the US server. Before this tragedy abt my.com I was planing to do so, now Ill go for sure. I live in europe and im willing to make some sacrifices, besides that I live on Oporto in Portugal so for me the ping wont be a big deal and also someday i plan to go to the USA because of projects of life. Im so sad for all of the EU players that are kinda forced to play on my.com servers and the decision for choosing my.com to be the publishers on EU
  • I'll probably be forced to play on an NA server as a result, despite the high ping.

ive played on NA servers before despite being a dutchmen myself, there some lag but if you get used to it you can play at nearly lvl of some1 who lives in america. it could be worse than this, i just hope theres a light at the end of the tunnel.
  • my.com will converse them to go pay 2 win and I will be like it was not us
  • I can't understand why they would do this...

I'm not affected though so I don't really have much opinion unless they go into the US with this nonsense.

I mean they lose more than they'd ever gain with those goons...

Publishers, in general, don't usually have that great of a reputation. However it sounds like going with My.com was the best business decision Steven could find. It appears to have been a decision that was financially sound, allowed Intrepid the amount of flexibility they wanted and also didn't interfere with the intended launch plan.

I think people are overreacting pretty hard. Sure, I get that you might not like My.com but we haven't even seen anything yet. People are jumping to the worst conclusions and allowing their imaginations to run wild.
Для начала - мы видели обещание Стивена не отдавать проект региональным локализаторам. Теперь мы видим прямое нарушение Стивеном собственного обещания. А можно ли верить тому, кто уже пойман на лжи? И потому я перестала верить в этот проект.
