I'm glad the community's voice was heard and we have such a good champion for our cause.
thanks for the reply, just saw it in another thread. thats a great information.
Highly unlikely I will play this game now.
Secondly I live in the U.S. and I'm telling Intrepid now, if they go with My.com I will demand a refund, swear off ever playing Ashes, and make sure none of my friends ever play it. Ashes will be dead on arrival if Intrepid goes through with the decision to use My.com.
I have played several MMO's that used My.com and all of them were hacked DAY 1. That is how bad My.com is and what a horrible decision it would be to use them.
But there is no way I will be giving my email and bank account details to My.com, it just aint gonna happen.
I did beta testing for Rev online and that was enough to see how poor this company is, hacking of accounts, rude staff on the forums, ban happy staff for players just asking questions, frequent price changes without notice and so on.
So where does this leave us, what options do we have now ?
/sarcasm
I had an account with my.com once.... it belongs to someone else now. My attempts at retrieving said account through their customer service were........ a nightmare that i never woke up from.
I, don't have the words to express how thankful I am that I had not yet pledged to ashes. I had the mouse hovering so many times and "something" told me to hold off. Glad I did. If i had pledged, and then seen this happen, i'd be very pissed.
In my childhood years we had an expression........ "You dropped the ball" I think that applies here.
Finances
With the current "reputation" of my.com and perception from the gaming community, I would be willing to bet money that they are on a road to bankruptcy without doing something right and something positive.
...And enter Steven with Ashes of Creation!
This game was founded by Steven almost entirely based on his frustrations with developers and distributors focusing on cash grabs and other junk for money. He's done an amazing job so far, so I see no reason to stop trusting in his judgement and negotiating skills. As far as we know, they're just getting a little stipend to host servers in the EU and push a reset button every now and then.
Best thing to do is wait and see.
Why would Steven hand the publishing over to a company about to go belly up?
I think they are doing fine financially. People, as much as they complain about P2W, will still buy into it because they make it so you have to or else risk not being competitive.
Jokes aside, an explanation is due.
I wish it was possible to refund a kickstarter package now..... "#¤"% this...
I'm not affected though so I don't really have much opinion unless they go into the US with this nonsense.
I mean they lose more than they'd ever gain with those goons...
