2025 i think is way tooo much. I guess many of us try to keep a late date on our mind in order to protect us from the loooong waiting. If we say 2023 we might get disapointed so we protect ourselves by saying 2025.

I say 2024 or 2025 because that is when I expect it to release.

That is still only 7 years of solid development.
  • After some reflection, I wouldn't want community expectation to put pressure on Intrepid to release the game earlier than Steven is happy with it.

Six months ago I guessed 2024, but if it got to 2024 and Steven wasn't more than 99%(?) happy with the state of the game then I'd rather he delayed. There's a huge number of systems to implement and polishing the interaction between the various parts could take a long time. At some point Steven will find himself with the decision "when is the game good enough to release?". I don't have any magic answers for him, but maybe, as a community we will be able to give honest feedback when asked.

The people whinging for an early release will the same ones whinging when not everything works properly after being released too soon. It'll be ready when it's ready.

    Yup
And if I'm betting on a date, having a two year spread is pretty good too

It's like sad to not have any mmo worth playing. Like Archeage or L2 and AoC are a mmo of its kind, you can't compare them to, let's say, WoW. For me WoW is not worth a single second i'm in. It has nothing to do with what i look for in a mmo, and not having any game like this to play is really sad, and what's worst is to realize that there are still years to be passed without it. Holy macarroni.

BDO and ArcheAge are actually very close to being great games as long as you don't care much about WoW-style PvE raids, and if it weren't for the crazy monetization. I mean the depth of BDO systems is insane. They even added a battle royale in at one point. There's even node wars where you place defensive buildings, and extensive artisan systems and trade networks.

Paragraphs aren't the way to extend a thread by pages. For that, you need posts. Lots of posts.

The best way to get lots of posts is by posting an unpopular opinion, but one that resonates with many people.

To that end, I'm going to say that Ashes won't release until 2028. Since development started in 2018 in reality (the time before that was spent assembling the games team and such) and many less ambitious MMO's have had 10 year development times (ESO being one, iirc).

If the game launches any time before 2028, it will likely just be another of a long line of MMO's released before they were ready, and will fall in to that same heap of mediocrity.

So, anyone wanting the game to release before 2028 wants the game to fail.

What updates to technology does your crystal ball tell you will make AoC feel dated in seven years. Really curious on your perspective.

Half way through development they're going to rebuild everything to make it a VR game in a bid to get J Bard to come back.

Don't be distracting Jeffery from revolutionary work on augmented reality apps. We need more serious people on that. The fact that I don't have internet on my scouter and the ability to trade virtual blockchain based trading cards is criminal. It's freakin 2021. Google glass was years ago.

I consider that the A2 and B1 are the most important points therefore there is no way that there is less than 1 year between them.

A1 on 07/14/2021, knowing that A2 is extremely important, the difference between A1 and A2 should not be less than 1 year.

    A1 to A2 = 1 year minimum
    A2 to B1 = 1 year minimum

    A1 07/14/2021 + 2 years = B1 in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2023 ( optimistic )

It would be necessary to know the importance of the B2, because depending on that it could be less or more than 6 months of difference between the B1 and the B2 and the distance between the B2 and the completion of the AoC could be something similar.

Think that the distance between B1 and B2 will depend on how well they have done the development and solved the problems that arise in B1 and the distance from B2 to the realization will also depend on whether the B2 is mostly to be promoted or mostly to continue fixing problems.

Now, all this depends on the problems that arise in those years of development, if there are few or many problems that can influence a lot over time.

Being optimistic, the B1 will be in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2023.

To know an approximate of B2 and the realization we need the data of B1.

My crystal ball tells me that by the time 2028 arrives and the game maybe is released the graphics will look dated, gameplay will be dated ect, ect. Just look at new world in 7/8years will it still hold up well ? unless Intrepid got a big pot of money to change everything, it's called progress .

Ashes is on a stop watch my friend the money for development is finite and all the good will in the world can't change this I mean who's going to continue to buy from the shop for another 6 to 7 years with no end date in sight?

What about the gameplay do you expect to be stale seven years from now? Anything feel particularly gimmicky?

What about the graphics feels susceptible to aging for you? I ask because to me it's fairly stylized so like WoW and FFXI yeah there issome dust but they still hold up for me. But hey people have different perceptions so I am curious about yours.

New World feels less stylized to me so might age that way. They changed a lot about the gameplay but the crafting looks like it can become adapted for the long haul.

Time moves on and graphics get old tbh this game not to dissimilar War Hammer online only with better animations (also think they got alot of their ideas from there to)
Another 6 /7 years waiting is a long time to ask people to keep the faith on a game that started back in 2017 ish.

As for gimmicky 64 classes ,Why not say 8 classes with a choice of a different path for you to choose, any way going off on a tangent 2028 is to long another 2 years max .Oh and I would like this game to succeed .

The thing that people need to understand is that players were involved in the development of Ashes before Ashes was in development.

This is as opposed to most games, where we would be hearing about them for the first time when they are about as far along as Ashes is now - or perhaps not even for a while yet.

Most players have an expectation of a few years of knowing about an MMO before release, where as with Ashes we kind of had a few years of knowing about it before development

I know this m8 and most the people on this very Forum also know this, thing is most of the people who are looking for a new mmo also know about the game to and they are the ones who you have to convince to hang on and keep buying from the shop to keep development going....
